We were not confident about our late decision to try an artificial tree for the first time. Luckily, we choose well. This tree is a good buy. It's well made, well packaged with good tips, very comparatively priced (based on my research of reviews) and they delivered it a full week ahead of the beginning of the delivery window - allowing my family to enjoy it a full week more before Christmas. The instructions are very easy. There is, however, about an hour of branch spreading and positioning necessary when it's brand new. The final appearance is based on this dedicated 'grooming' effort. I imagine that a less enthusiastic and less patient effort could lead to disappointing results like you may see inn the most negative reviews (plus manufacturing defects do happen, even on good product lines). That said, the tree is attractive. It's full and has a good shape color and needle finish. The package includes a tree bag and a large pair and small pair of cheap gloves for tree branch handling. We had the nice option of being able to partially disassemble and move our fully decorated tree to another room. No cleaning, watering, and transporting. Any branch can support any of our ornaments. We choose an unlit model so we could use our existing lights and not be concerned about reports of pre-lit tree branches losing their electrical continuity. Sure, I do wish it had the real tree scent and that I didn't know it has a metal/plastic pole at the center, but I expected that so I am still very pleased now. ... show more

First, I must say that this is the most beautiful artificial tree we have ever owned. Purchased the 7.5 ft tree. I did not order the tree pre-lit. My experience is that when the lights fail it is a major pain to fix/remove/restring lights for the tree. Purchased 4 boxes of LED Constant-On lights and they were less (on sale) than the extra cost of the pre-lit tree. Energy saving and they look amazing. The tree arrived sooner than expected which was a surprise. Sturdy packaging and well sealed. Instructions are included AND it comes with a tree bag (ours was burgundy) and 2 pair of very nice silky gloves that made the "fluffing" go quickly. (2 sizes-small which fit my hands and a M/L for most men) I would suggest, as others have, wearing long sleeves while setting up the tree. The stand looks questionable at first because it is a simple design but when fully assembled the tree is solid. It comes with plastic caps that cover the 4 metal 'feet' (It would still go down if the cat decides to climb it which is why we will anchor it to the wall as we always have since experiencing a crashing tree in the middle of the night several years ago. 😉) First section took 30 minutes to 'fluff' and was much easier than our previous tree. Several branches have 3 independent branches about halfway down the branch from the trunk. Pulling the 2 side branches out and away from the main branch will make a difference. (Think of a 'W'.) This Is what fills the gaps. 2nd section took 25 minutes and the top about the same, but I am short so I had to move the stool around. All in all, under 1.5 hour to get it up was less than expected. Photo #1 is the bottom section. Photo #2 is sections 1 & 2. Photo 3 is the tree simply put together without any detailing. Photo #4 is 300 LED lights and no detailing. I will add the 4th strand and work the lights into the tree. This tree does not have gaps when properly 'fluffed'. It looks just as beautiful as some of the trees I viewed in store that were twice the price. Really glad I made this choice. Thanks to all those who wrote very helpful reviews. ... show more

I just finished assembling and “fluffing” this tree and it exceeds my expectations!!! I purchased the unlit version of this tree. I almost didn’t buy this tree because of some of the reviews complaining about gaps and not being full but I am very happy that I pulled the trigger anyway. I am very picky about a tree being full and even! My wife says I have Christmas tree OCD. The manufacturer claims 1.5-2 hrs of fluffing I believe....and for the first assembly, I feel this might be a bit low. This tree is extremely full if you spend the time to get it that way. I do not have a single gap in my tree and it is even from top to bottom. Now as I said earlier, I am very picky so it took me 3 hours and it looks beautiful! Things shift during shipping so some of the branches may not be exactly in the original configuration....but very easy to adjust....here is how I assembled this tree and it worked great for me: Insert the lower section into the stand and lower the branches....leave the bottom row down and use the red ribbon tie that came with the tree and tie up the other rows....now fluff the bottom row and when satisfied, lower the next row and so on until the tree is assembled....you won’t need long sleeves to worry about getting scratched. While you are fluffing each row, don’t be afraid to bend the branches slightly, left,right or up and down to get them where they need to be. I would grasp the branch firmly near the “trunk” and adjust it as necessary. Another note....some of the branches have 2 smaller branches on them and you have to bend those out “fan them” to achieve a full tree and again, bend and place them to achieve fullness. In the end, if you want your tree to look full and beautiful, it takes some time. This is my first Balsam Hill and the first time I have spent $329 on a tree but it is worth every penny! If it lasts me 8-10 yrs....I feel it will have paid for itself. I hope that my review helps current owners as well as potential owners.... ... show more

I was hesitant to buy my first artificial trees my previous one was a family member hand me down, most likely from the late 80s/early 90s. I found this tree simple to assemble, took me about 1hr to assemble and fully fluff out. This beautiful tree has so many lights and was unbelievably easy to put up. Definitely worth the money and I will buy another when my 9 foot tree is no longer good.
