    • Great set, but BE WARNED!
I felt compelled to write a review for this 25th anniversary edition of Bad on vinyl due to a rather unfortunate experience with it. This is a great collection on vinyl containing the original album remastered along with two additional LPs with demo tracks and remixes. Everything sounds fantastic, though it does seem at times the mix isn't quite right with a few songs sounding louder than the rest (mainly "Just Good Friends"). Despite that, the whole package still looks and sounds phenomenal. I would say this is a must have for any fan of MJ or Bad. However, there is one VERY important thing to mention concerning this collection which everyone thinking of getting it should be aware of. There is a flaw in the first LP which seems to be present on EVERY copy of this. I went through three copies myself before giving up and realizing they all had this flaw. On the song "Dirty Diana" towards the end of the track there are two very audible pops about a second or two apart. They appeared in that same spot on every one of the three copies I tried. So be warned when getting this, those pops will most likely end up on your copy as well. Having said that it was a small gripe on an otherwise fantastic package, I just wish I knew how they could have screwed this up without anybody noticing this prior to release especially considering it was delayed over a month from its intended release date. I had hoped to get the original mastered from Grundman but I guess that would need to fall in the used market. This is a reissue that was mastered by Coyne (bar:88875035432) amid the loudness era. It still sounds ok . It is a great album and I am glad to have it in my possession but I will continue my search for the earlier CD. For example, the dynamic range of "Smooth Criminal" is 6 whereas the one from 1987 is 12-14 (compared to hi quality dsd at 20). ... show more
