These are decent shovels for kids. The handle and the scoop part are both plastic, the stick is wood from what I can tell. We have only used these a few times in mostly dry sand and they have worked well for our needs. I don't know how well these will hold up over time, but I am happy that they are plastic and lightweight because I feel like kids are a bit clumsy and someone is going to get hit with one of these eventually. These are not shovels you can use while standing much past the age of maybe 2, they are fairly short but a good size compared to a spade. I would recommend.

These sand shovels, have a specific emphasis on "sand". The color pieces are made out of plastic and the shovel itself is quite easily bendable. This is totally fine for the sand and it keeps them light. Don't try to use this on the rocks or in hard clay. This is not a sapper's shovel. Pack of 3 is also nice because if you have more than one kid you know what it's like to be at the beach with only one shovel - screaming and fighting over the shovel inevitable ensues. This set resolves this problem.

It's a good thing this is a set of three because all the kids at the park sandbox wanted to try these. Really nice big shovels that have a strong wooden shaft. The entire shovel is well-made. The handle is the perfect size for kids and the shovel part is a very thick plastic so it will not break when digging in the sand. Fun colors and really fun to play with in the sand. Definitely a 5.

My kiddos love playing outside in their sandbox and having a variety of tools is a must. These little shovels are super cute and colorful for playtime. The handle and shovel head are plastic which are screwed into the wooden dowel. Everything arrives assembled so you can just grab ‘em and get digging. I like the size of these shovels and the kiddos are enjoying the utility of the design. I would prefer if the shovel head was made from a heavier plastic. These are a bit pliable so if you want to use them on hard packed dirt or dense matter, they may not be up to the task. For sandbox play or light snow, they’re great, though!

These shovels will make a nice addition to our sandbox. They are a nice size at just over a foot in height. My only negative is the shovel and handle are plastic. I doubt these will make it the full summer without breaking. But for the price I’m not too upset about that.
