The most difficult part of writing this review is finding enough different ways to say how great these shoes are. The fit is fantastic. With the padded collar they're not that easy to slip on and off, so I don't use the very top eyelet for the laces, I just don't lace them that far up. High top basketball shoes are NOT supposed to be easy to get on and off; if they were, they're not doing their job. You can certainly skip a lace eyelet lower down the shoe as well if you need to be able to get them on and off easily. Remember, every hole doesn't need to be used, only what you need to be comfortable. If you don't lace them up fully you won't receive the full benefit of the padded collar, but the choice is yours. I wear mine on the street so I don't need full ankle protection. Back in the early to mid 1980s, I used to love the Avia brand of high top basketball shoes. When I got married in July 1985, after the wedding ceremony in the church ended, guess what shoes I changed into for the reception? White high top Avias. They were perfect with my white tux. I wore them the rest of the night, to include not only the reception but also the gift opening session and the dance. I've had many different athletic shoes over the years, mostly Nike brand, but I was so happy to finally find a pair of high top Avias that I liked that I just bought them again. I may buy a third pair. They are so comfortable it's hard to believe. The fit is true, sized as expected. They are very sharp shoes. If any of the kids refer to them as "dad shoes" I'll say, "Yup, you got that right. They're too cool for you." I wish Avia had risen to the heights of the athletic shoe kingdom in the same way that Nike has, but if they don't, at least keep making these affordable, attractive, comfortable shoes and I'll be happy to keep buying them. Welcome back, Avia. Damn good to have you on my feet and in my closet again. It's been too long.

These are crazy GREAT shoes! They are stable, supportive yet supple allowing the upper to flex easily and just very-well made overall. So amazingly comfortable! Perfect sizing, surprisingly light weight and great-looking. I’m going to get them in each color. So pleased Amazon is carrying these, and at a really awesome price.

I'm a big fan of retro basketball shoes for their durability and comfort, and these are no exception. They've got great daily usability, comfortable for all day wear. The cantilever sole isn't just some marketing gimmick, you can really feel the additional rebound and overall liveliness of the sole. This feature gives them excellent functionality for both casual and athletic use. Fit is great on them for me and they're true to size. I'm a guy with relatively average width feet, but an individual with wider feet might find these to be narrow fitting. Overall I'd consider these a must-buy if you like retro sneakers. Especially considering the price, for less than $100 USD these are an excellent value compared to comparable products from other brands which are priced higher. Update: Just about a year after purchasing these I'm still very satisfied with them! I wear them almost daily for casual walking and outdoor use, and they're still in nearly new looking condition. The sole especially has been exceptionally durable. Highly recommend purchasing these while they're available.

Pretty nice. The ankle padding is nice, but the material is of a lesser quality and I could see it degrading quickly. Comfort i would have to give 3 stars. They are quite narrow even for my feet, which are not very wide. The quality of the leather used isn't the best, but they are under $100. I got permanent creases on the toe box upon 1st use, however I don't mind as I prefer a more weathered look on vintage sneakers. Overall the reason for my purchase was the style, the look of the shoe and in that department, they definitely do not disappoint. Biggest gripe I have however, is the lacing system. Waaay too much lace going on and it took me a good 10 mins of loosening and stretching to get my foot in them. Overall pretty satisfied, may purchase other colorways in the future.

My wife and I have spent over $150 a piece on Otomix weightlifting shoes. Both sets of shoes have torn apart and I've taken to the shoe store and they had to get Resembled and glued. These avias are awesome and my first pair is almost 2 years old and still going strong with no stitching or anything coming apart. I'm 63 years old and these avias are still looking good and making me look good

Wow, what a find on Amazon. I was searching for an entirely different sneaker, that had nothing to do with Avia. These popped up and I was curious. I'm a 90s baby so I didn't exactly live through the time these sneakers were in stores but I've known about their retro sneakers by being an actual sneaker head. Avia, this is the review you've been searching for... If Avia has access to their archives and the older sneakers with straps and high tops they used to make, they could totally make a comeback AND still be sold in Walmart here in the USA. They basically have sneakers older than me and I'm 34. I cannot believe I caught these on Amazon. Can't even beat this price. I'm going to purchase my father a pair. Super retro sneakers the 830 in black is KILLING the GAME on ACCIDENT. No one has these around you. So these sneakers no matter which colorway of the 830s are UNIQUE! Don't take this with a grain of salt, I'm a real sneakerhead and own a pair from just anything you can think of. They also felt comfortable while riding a motorcycle. How about that? Size 9 in men, size 10.5 in women. True to size. 10 stars.
