  • Great polisher and waxer
Style: Orbital Polisher
Our Lexus LS 400 was starting to look a little dull. It has a very dark green, clear coat paint and any surface film or scratches are easily seen. I also have a 1938 Ford Woodie street rod that I baby and wanted to make the Lexus look as good as the street rod. A friend of mine recommended this polisher. I was a little skeptical as cars I have seen where a power polisher was used left swirl marks. I was very surprised after using this polisher for the polish process and then using it to put on and then polish off a nice coat of Carnuba wax. It had plenty of power and was very easy to control. The short cord that has previously been mentioned was not a problem as I kept the extension over my shoulder. This also kept the cord away from my feet and the side of the car. I did something a little different than was specified in the instructions and that is to use one of my micro fiber rags on the buffer for the final wax and polish. I just wrapped the rag up around the polisher with my hand and it worked perfectly. My only concern is the foam pad looks like it could eventually suffer damage or wear out and there is no information on how or where to get a replacement. My next test will be to use the polisher on a vintage Porsche we own. The red paint has become oxidized and I am confident this polisher will make it look like new and not do any damage. This a great, quality tool. ... show more

  • Good buy for the money
Style: Orbital Polisher
Seems to be better made than other comparable buffers in it's price range. It doesn't take up much room on the shelf, which is also nice. Works better than some of the bigger, bulkier buffers on smaller areas of the vehicle, especially lower to the ground, though those bigger models are a little easier to control on big surfaces such as the hood and roof (this one can be easy to drop/loose your grip on). Very easy to change pads. The cord is short, but you'd likely have to use an extension with most similar products anyway. Overall, this is the best buffer I've yet owned. Beats the heck out of doing it by hand! ... show more

  • Tackled the job admirably
Style: Orbital Polisher
I decided I wanted my car to shine this summer, so I figured I'd need some tools to get the job done properly. I remembered from a stroll through the automotive department at a local super-department store (that will remain nameless....) that Turtle Wax made their own cheap buffer/polisher. As far as I can tell, this is the same machine, only in a grey casing, rather than Turtle Wax green. Anyways, this little guy was just what I needed. It works just as a orbital sander would, rather than a grinder or dremmel tool. In other words, the bottom moves around in little swirls, it doesn't rotate per se, like a grinder would. The actual operation of the tool takes a bit of practice, because you need to apply enough pressure to apply wax or polish, but too much pressure means that the pad will stop moving due to friction. I polished my car in about 20 minutes. This is down from a little over an hour with a hand rag. Be aware that the unit comes with 2 bonnets, but you will want to buy many more, as they do not last too long. I went through two polish applicator bonnets on my compact car. You will also need an extension cord, as you can see from the item photo, the power cord is maybe 8 inches long. This is so you can form a square knot with the extension, eliminating the possibility of the unit coming unplugged by accident. Overall, I found this polisher to be of decent quality for a fair price. ... show more

  • Heavy Duty, Same at Walmart, Super Price!
Style: Orbital Polisher
Usually I use the 10" orbital polishers and this is the first time I have used the 6". My personal preference is the 6" now and this is a superior waxer-polisher. Why? It is heavy duty and a well made product; will last. Although I never heard of the brand, I know it is sold at Walmart; hence, it has some backbone. When it arrived, it exceeded my expectations and I have been using it for more than 30 days, superior. The only thing I do not like is the "one bonnet" buffing pad but most waxers only come with one or two. The heavy duty detail compounds had to be hand polished and then buffed with this machine. The 10" machines are difficult to control and you cannot operate them with one hand. This one is very comfortable and feels balanced in the palm, a smooth feel instead of vibrations up and down your arm. After two hours I did not feel any discomfort and hence, knew this was a better product. Applying wax and doing a 3M job was relatively easy. I did 3 applications of 3M so this will tell you how thick or powerful the rotation pads are. I got this for one car and restoring it and it scored a 9 out of 10; nearly perfect. It is small and easily stored; the power cord management is the best part and you can move around the car very quick and easy. ... show more

  • Bonnet doesn't spin
Style: Orbital Polisher
A lot of polishers use velcro (a.k.a "hook and loop") to attach the buffing/polishing pads to the polisher. This one just uses "bonnets", which look like little shower caps. There is nothing that really fastens the bonnet to the spinning surface, though, so the bonnet just stays still while the polisher spins inside it. If I lift the polisher off of the surface I'm trying to polish, the bonnet will start to spin, but as soon as I touch it to the surface again it slows way down or stops. Maybe I'm doing something wrong here - but now I really wish I'd spent some more money on a traditional polisher that will actually make the polishing pad spin. ... show more

  • Great light duty polisher
Style: Orbital Polisher
I am very pleased with this polisher. It's very easy to use and works quite well. I will say that you need to read the instructions and follow the pointers given. Don't put a lot of pressure on the polisher. Just guide it and let it do the work. It is not designed for heavy compound work. There are a couple of points I don't remember reading in reviews or instructions that I found useful. When applying polish, I keep a spray bottle handy and spritz the applicator pad with water occassionally to keep it damp. This will spread the polish more evenly. Also apply polish sparingly; only a thin layer at a time. This polisher provides an excellent shine with very little effort. ... show more
