I use this on a block of wood to polish and hone my chisels and plane irons instead of a strop and this works noticeably better than green compound. I go from a 1k diamond stone directly to this and get hair shaving, end grain slicing sharpness. Works far beyond what I expected for honing and polishing! The item was in a shipping bag and when the bag was opened the autosol box was wet and had been re-taped shut. it was smashed in the middle of the tube which caused it to be split on the end of the tube and all over the inside of the box. It was totally destroyed inside the shipping bag.

This stuff works! I used it on the chrome parts for my vintage Singer sewing machine that I'm restoring and they went from spotty and dull to looking new. Wish I took a proper picture before I used the Autosol but I uploaded one I already had. I only used it on the chrome cover not the knobs or little lever in the photo but I'm sure it works just as well on other metals. If you have something that's very rusted I think you'll need something stronger or to put in a lot of elbow grease but for removing light rust and adding shine, this is great. ... show more

I got this both to polish and to polish out scratches, and it did not disappoint. I had a couple of nasty scratches on one of my (motorcycle) pipes and with a little bit of time and elbow grease not only are the pipes back to looking near-new (11 y/o bike) but the scratches are all but gone. BTW, expect a lot of nasty filth to come out even from what you think are "clean" surfaces, this stuff brings it all up. ... show more
