I use these on all my vehicles but initially bought them for my BMW. Chains tear up delicate sensors and can do damage to the suspension parts, so are not recommended by BMW. And, if you've ever been stranded somewhere trying to put chains on in the cold- it's a nightmare! Enter the Auto Sock. When I purchased my first pair, I don't think many knew about them in my area. They were so easy, but how could they work so well? I was able to drive up hills with ice, in my little car, while 4X4's were spinning out all around me WITH snow tires on! The look on the other drivers faces was priceless! As a nurse, when I get called in to work, I can't say no due to snow and ice- I have to be able to get off my hill. These make that possible, and do it with ease. I even use them on my Subaru for even better traction on icy surfaces. They give me such piece of mind that I recommend them to everyone I know. With a recent large snow storm, my city was paralyzed. I actually gave my old pair (8 years old, used many times with only a dime sized hole in them) to a young woman who couldn't get up my hill and had been trying to for over an hour. I think they were a little big for her tires, but her smile as she drove off easily was worth the effort. If where you live ever gets snow or ice, get these- no matter what type of vehicle you use. They truly are the easiest things to put on and pull off. They are very durable, and the same price as chains. And, I've never seen a snow sock laying in the middle of the road like I do chains. Another plus is unlike snow tires that take up a large amount of room in the garage, they also don't tear up the roads when the pavement is dry. I wish they made these mandatory for people who don't have experience driving in snow- there would be a lot less accidents and stranded motorists out there. If you are looking for a great birthday or Christmas present for your kids going off to college, or anyone you care about- these are not sexy and probably not on anyones's list, but they are a great gift that will keep someone safe.

Recently purchased these for a trip to Mammoth Lakes Calif. over the Christmas holidays. It snowed hard for four days straight. It was the heaviest snow fall in ten years. We took my wife's 2014 Mini Cooper Countryman AWD. After hours of digging ourselves out of the snow I was able to install the snow socks on the front two drive wheels. We then drove to the main highway, which was temporarily opened, and drove "30 miles" in snow and ice with white out conditions along the way at times. The snow socks performed extremely well. The ride was smooth and steady with very little, if any, sliding. Absolutely no vibration. As the altitude dropped the road became slushy and was a mix of snow and asphalt. I thought this would damage the socks, but that did not happen. We still maintained great traction. Speeds varied from 20 to 35+ MPH for the entire trip. The snow socks were a breeze to install. "The trick came in trying to remove them." The cold snow and ice shrunk them around the wheel. Attempting to grab the inside seam of the snow sock, and pull it back over the tire, proved to be more difficult that I anticipated. The clearance between the fender-well and the tire, on our car, was very tight and my hand just barley fit in between to grab the seam. The socks were now on very tightly. Understand, GOOD gloves are paramount!! The gloves provided are junk! The thickness of the gloves does add to the difficulty of removing the socks. Have a very good pair of gloves in the package with the snow socks. Some 'good' thick rubber gloves would work well. With this experience I would now approach the sock removal procedure much differently by picking a spot where there is adequate clearance and remove them a little at at time. This product is excellent for what we used it for and I would not hesitate to use it again. Attached is a photo of the socks after removal and 30 miles of use. They took a beating but still held together. They proved very durable and I believe they can be used again.

takes less than 5 minutes to get these on even if you're currently stuck in snow, and they work very well. Moment of hilarity when a CX-9 tried to dart out in front of me from their neighborhood and spun in a U-turn up onto the curb leading back into their neighborhood. We don't often get much snow in town where I live but when we did this past winter these were a life saver. Again, wildly easy to install even being stuck and not having installed or test-fit them before hand (which of course was dumb of me not to test fit or familiarize myself with them). They're even easier to take off, you just yank 'em right off - obviously don't leave them on when parked. One thing I will note is they are displaying some wear already despite not putting a huge amount of distance on them and only driving at 30mph top speed, on roads that aren't bare. There may have been some small bare patches of road, and the wear is really just the woven fabric getting a little fuzzy - but I wonder how well they will hold up in time. These are the only product approved by WSDOT as traction devices for all vehicles from passenger cars all the way up to semis. Best thing is these puppies are not babumpadumpa clunky-riding as heck like chains either. Also don't be a cheap jerk endangering yourself & other drivers - have a set of winter tires.

Easy to put on in and worked great. Have never used chains or been in a snow storm...these were so easy to put on and made a stressful time so much less stressful. We were happy not to have to struggle to put on chains. We pulled over, got them on and were back on the road in less than 10 min while others were still struggling to get their chains on. Drove about 35 miles in San Bernadino/Big Bear mountains in a heavy storm. They're still in good shape. A few tears but that's only because we learned they were not good for climbing up a very steep snowy driveway. Removed very easily and let dry in the house so they didn't freeze outside. I think we could use at least one or 2 more times. Definitely recommend. Don't forget to bring scissors to open the bag when you need them! Others had to borrow our Scissors to open their bags of chains to cut the zip ties off.

I decided to buy this after looking at all the options available for snow chains and cables. When I discovered CalTrans allowed the use of Auto Sock, I decided to give it a shot. We drove up to Big Bear Lake during a winter storm. When it came time to install the socks on the front tires of our Mazda CX-5, it took no longer than 5-10 min before we were back on the road. While cars with chains slipped and slided we kept going. We slid a little on the beginning when we were on black ice but then it gripped with the snow. We drove for 80 min not exceeding 25 mph with wind gusts up to 30-40 mph. It was a slow harrowing ride up as we did not know how long the socks would hold. Well, we made it to our cabin without any issues. The pictures show how the socks looked afterwards. Because the snow was melted by the time we were leaving Big Bear, we weren't able to test them out going down the mountain. All I know is those socks worked wonderfully when we needed them to. Next time, I will buy two sets of socks just in case. They were so easy to put on, anyone can do it and do it quickly. I highly recommend these for short term use. Because they are made of fabric, I don't think they are designed for repeated use. Since I only go up the mountain occasionally, these socks were perfect for our needs.

was very unpleased with my order! once we started driving, it immediately fell off! it’s not very safe at all, could resort to an accident, terrible! the fit is perfect, but it fell of ether way! i’m very angry, that i got robbed off $100 for it not to even work! luckily, i have a tesla, so i was perfectly fine, if u guys have teslas as well and want to go up to mammoth or bear, DO NOT think that u need chains or anything for ur tesla wheels, it’s perfectly fine, and u won’t slip, but for other cars i recommend NOT buying this! it’s horrible, and not safe for other drivers. this item could lead to ur wheels getting stuck with the item. recommend u to js get regular chains if u don’t have a truck etc. at bear they sell around $50 chains which WOULD NOT fly off or roll of while driving, and they are also quite easy to put on. if u don’t know how to, u could js ask them or watch a youtube video. but this item is very easy to store, unlike regular chains where u need more equipment. BUT overall, my experience with this item was HORRENDOUS, 1. it’s not safe, 2. it’s not affordable for how it even works. and 3. it’s falls of so quickly! i 100% don’t recommend! i would most likely invest in some chains instead!

Good quick way to get through the mountain passes when the chain law is in effect. No chain damage to undersides. Legal. May not last very long if you drive in them at higher speeds.
