  • Perfect fit on 2014 passat Wolfsburg, but don't use wiring instructions
I got good results installing this camera with an auto dimming mirror that has a built in monitor. The camera has a RCA output and the mirror has a RCA input. The new camera has a trunk switch which releases the trunk lock. Viewing angle is correct. The wiring instructions that came with the camera do not work on a VW car. The instructions say to connect the camera power to the car reverse lights. VW reverse lights do not put out 12 volts, so the camera does not work or there is a lot of interference. Voltage regulators and noise filters did nothing to help. I got the camera to work properly by using an automotive relay, the little black cube with 5 terminal connections on the bottom. The reverse light voltage is strong enough to trigger the relay, so I connected the + to terminal 85 and a ground to terminal 84. I ran a new line directly from the fuse box to the trunk and connected to terminal 30. The the out put from terminal 87 is connected to the camera +. I connected the same negative from terminal 84 directly to the cameras negative. The results are that when I put the car in reverse it triggers the relay, and I get the correct voltage to the camera. See attach picture for results. Be warned that this is a big job: added a fusible link to the fuse box; connected the red wire on the RCA cable to the fusBle link; ran the RCA cable from the fuse box, to the trunk under the door sills on drivers side; pulled back the liner in the trunk to locate the reverse+ (it was a light blue wire in my case); installed the automotive relay where I tapped into the reverse wire; removed the plastic cover on the rear lid arm to get the wires into the lid, removed the rectangular panel on the inside of the rear lid (there are two screws and eight clips holding it in place); then you can access the backside of the old trunk switch. There are two 10mm nuts holding the old trunk switch. This camera should work with any monitor or radio with a RCA input. However the old RNS315 & RNS510 headunits use a RGB 26 pin input, so I don't know if there are any reliable adapters. ... show more

  • Decent image, works pretty well
I installed this in a 2014 Passat, and I added a power and ground cable to the video cable for the run and connected power to the ignition power side of the stereo installation and ground to the stereo ground. (I'd read that connecting to the backup light power could be a problem.) The video image looks pretty good and is aimed similar to the factory backup camera on one of my other vehicles. My only real complaint was that the "cover" on the camera didn't quite conform to the recessed mounting area for the trunk handle. ... show more

  • More of a handle than a camera
I wanted to have a handle to replace the oem one with camera attached and I did get a handle. Poor aim angle for the camera, basically points to the ground and useless as a reverse aid.

  • Great product! Highly recommend!
Perfect fit for my 2013 Volkswagen Jetta SE 2.5. Install was easy enough without instructions. Comes with more than enough cable to run from back to front. The camera has the guidelines but doesn’t have the static lines that shows were your car is going to be but you can’t expect the world for that great of a price point. Just has the lines for knowing how far to back up (green, yellow, red). The button to open the trunk lid works perfectly as well. Quality is very comparable to the original. *Note: noticed the original handle has a slot for a camera when I took it off so if you wanted to just take the camera and rubber cover to use with the original I think it could easily be done. Just installed so if any iasue arises I will update. ... show more

  • RCA too short and cam angle too steep for listed compatible TOUAREG 7P
This was advertised to fit the VW Touareg 7P (2012) at the time of purchase and the supplied RCA CABLE IS TOO SHORT!!! THE LENGTH ONLY MAKES IT TO PASSENGER DOOR FOOTWELL so you cannot reach the MMI/RNS unit. very disappointing, found this out after installing everything. Then bought an extender to make it work and now realize the camera angle points downward too far and you can't see behind you more then a couple of feet. Cheap Chinese junk and even worse customer support. ... show more

  • Not that easy to install but works perfectly
The instructions did not work for my car (Jetta SE MK6 2011), but using YouTube I was able to connect to 12v using my stereo connection instead of the reverse light cable and it worked. Great image

  • Cant adjust camera angle!
It fits perfect with my 2013 VW Jetta however you cant adjust the angle of the camera which points darn near to the ground. Wish I can point the camera up just a tad bit!

  • This style is better looking than license plate cameras.
I like it because it is more concealed look than a license plate camera. It is more discreet look. Just glad there was one for my Jetta. Delivery of product I thought was fast.
