  • Fantastic, especially for high pile carpet.
Color: Grey
We grabbed one of these a week or so ago, and it's turned out to be overall fantastic. We have three cats which are 2 years old or less, and they love toys which they can chase. The issue that most have is that they get stuck easily. We have hard floors with a couple high pile, almost shag rugs. Most are also shorter, and can easily get underneath things. This one really can get right over those carpets with no issue. It is a little taller, and also doesn't get underneath a lot of the furniture that easily. The fact that it can get over these rugs alone is fantastic, and that alone is a major selling point. In addition, it appears to have a mechanism where it will go to a sleep or inactive mode until something hits it again. That way it runs for a little and stops to wait to see if your cat's still playing. If they are, they'll naturally poke at it so that it wake up, chirps a few times, and gets back to it. The LED on it is also not so bright that it is blinding at close range like others. There is only one issue with this, and it's a result of its features. Because it doesn't get stuck on obvious, easy to see things like most furniture, rugs, rug tassles, or other things in plain sight, that means it can eventually find somewhere that isn't obvious. Now, since it tends to sleep then wake up with a chirping sound, that does really help. But we have run into instances where it finds its way into places we wouldn't expect. That said, it is a minor problem, and I cannot blame the toy for that. If you want a toy that can get around anywhere in your home... it will. If I had any suggestion for the manufacturer, it's to make an upgraded version with the ability to trigger the chirping noise by remote. But again, that's small potatoes. We got everything we wanted and more. At $20 normally or $16 on sale, it's a steal for the value and performance of it. Honestly... just buy two. It's worth $35. For those who just want the easy points... Pros: - It really can get over high pile carpet and shag rugs with no issues. Never seen a toy for cats that can get itself unstuck like this one. - It has sleep and wake-up features - The LED's aren't super bright like some toys that are blinding when close - Days after getting it, our cats are still into it and will come to it while it's charging and beg to have us turn it on. - It's way cheaper than I'd have thought it would be at just $20. Cons: - Because it doesn't get stuck easily and can get anywhere... it will. You might find yourself looking for it, only to find it somewhere you didn't think a toy could get to. - It does pick up hair and fur on the axle, but it is also very easy to remove. You can usually get to it ezpz, but they also provide a small tool so you can remove the outer ring and get to it in just a couple seconds. Barely worth mentioning, but figured I might anyway. If you're looking for a toy that doesn't get stuck everywhere, this definitely does not. Try it out. ... show more

  • Too big and obnoxious
Color: Grey
My just turned 2-year old cat chases everything but this she just looks at it and slowly follows it around puzzled. It easily gets stuck way back under couches eventually. Pretty sophisticated/high tech for the price with multiple modes and motion sensing reactivation. I'll keep it in case a visiting or new cat likes it more. I have a small cat. A large aggressive cat might love pouncing on this thing but a lot of cats may just keep their distance and think "what the hell is that?" If your cat is a bit timid and really needs to be cajoled to play hard, this probably isn't a good choice. It moves so erratically on the blue fast mode a lot of time the cat needs to hurdle it to keep from getting bonked by it. The purple slow mode doesn't seem to trigger as much interest or the hunting instinct. The best mode, interactive yellow where it periodically moves every 5 minutes then shuts down I think after 30 minutes until you walk near it or touch it is the best but it is more startling to my cat than enticing. Oh and my girlfriend has long hair and we vacumm often but still this think was gunked up with hair in only a couple hour's time but it's fairly easy to snap out of the cage and use the little tool to pry all the hair free. Kind of gross though. Battey life in the constant motion blue and purple modes is going to be very limited. Yellow interactive mode is best to maximize battery life but it chirps every so often on its own even after standby so could drive you and your cat crazy in a bad way. ... show more

  • Fantastic electronics - bad silicone ball cover
Color: Grey
Well, I bought this for my ferret, and he absolutely loves it. Best toy EVER for him to play with. I know it is for a cat but it seems to be a lot better for a ferret, believe me. My little guy would chase this toy all day if he didn't run out of energy doing so and the battery didn't either.! The big problem I am having is: The silicone plastic ball cover is great for him to hold it by and bite. He gets it twisted so the on-off switch and the power recharge holes are no longer lined up properly and he is also destroying this silicone cover. Don't get me wrong, he loves it and I had to buy two of them for alternate charging. To the maker: Please sell extra silicone covers and maybe even make them a bit thicker. Also, please make a rubber or silicone rather than just the "plush covers". Other than that you made the best ferret toy ever! Maybe sell a cat one and a ferret one separately. I will buy a few! ... show more
