  • Must have
I bought a used 15 wide mod vee jon boat a few years ago and it already had this system installed on it. the winch ended up locking up and was no longer usable but it was very old and poorly maintained. I replaced the winch portion with this new one. I never realized just how much I use an anchor . Pretty much any time you want to hang out in one spot and there is any sort of wind. This system makes anchoring a breeze. the winch is in the back near my seat and the rope is guided along the gunwhales by mounted rollers towards the front of the boat and the keeper is mounted on a piece of starboard (composite board) on the bow. When I want to drop anchor I just reach over and turn the knob, then it's as easy as cranking it back in when I want to move,it has become a necessity. I would highly recommend. It also keeps the anchoring system neat and out of the way. Once you try it you'll know what I'm talking about. ... show more

  • Does a good job
Pretty quick and easy to install with a good drill bit and some stainless steel bolts. Lowers and lifts 20# anchor with ease. Very happy.

  • Great cheap option for pontoon boat
Needed a compact option for a 20lb mushroom river anchor for a pontoon boat. i mounted it on the front corner, and without pullys only takes up 14”. It definitely would work better with pullys added, but a small footprint was necessary bc kids jump of the front. It works great, only have for 1mnth so don't know the longevity of the product, but got it from Amazon warehouse so for the price will be worth it even if only lasts a couple years ... show more

  • Broken / Non Working
This is the second one I received. On the first one, the crank would not even turn. Now I received a second one in a damaged package as if they didn't care. THe second one looks like it was a return also that they sent me. It looks like someone tried to fix this one too and then returned it to Amazon who then in turn sent it to me as a new product. I don't like paying for new items and getting second hand stuff that still has issues. The anchor should be able to drop freely without trouble but you can hardly turn the shaft that the anchor attaches to. This is poor quality and bad service from Amazon to send rejects to people as new products. Not happy. ... show more

  • Decent product but unfortunate packaging
The product itself is great. It fits and it, in general works. The problem is the system I received has a warp in the spindle and doesnt release smoothly. It required aide to unspool line at consistent intervals. Im sure its just a matter of damaged in transit but it really defeats the purpose of having an anchor system while im sitting there holding the release and turning the spool manually. ... show more

  • These are absolute necessities to any small boat!!!
I have had several of these mounted on a few different boats over the years and I consider them a must have on any boat under 20 foot without a power winch. I'm currently building another 16 foot beer-can for salt flats and these were two of my first purchases! A few notes for the nay sayers... I bought BOTH of mine from Amazon as *used returns* for a discounted cost. These were beat up a little during shipment. Owning these before I knew there isn't much that actually goes wrong with them so I had no fear of saving $50. If you have difficulty with locking/unlocking... the 3“ round top cap is a press fit *snap on* type design. They get knocked partially loose in shipment sometimes. Don't fear popping these caps off to realign the twist knob, reseat the unlocking lever into the spring, or disassembling and lubricate the whole drum assembly every year or two. If the crimping on the 3" caps fails over the years you can use a few dabs of polyurethane caulking to hold them down. Attwood use the sell parts for these, I don't know if they still do. (unlocking knobs, pulleys, springs etc) But I've rebuilt a few due to saltwater issues. Over all, these are mechanically super simple, easy to maintain, easy to fix and just simply WORK!!! Some are boaters, some are just boat owners. ;) ... show more

  • Good product, no issues, used frequently
I love this thing. It frees up space on my boat very well. It works just fine. It has grease on the bearings already, but I used a dw40 gel spray on the rollers immediately after installing. I dont know why other people had trouble with theirs. You definitely dont want to leave your anchor attached to it while in tow. I take my anchor off and stow when not in use. A 10lb anchor is just right for it. ... show more
