  • Great board. Strong, light, well-made and kinda extreme!
Bought this having never ridden a mountainboard before and lemme tell you. This thing feels strong and is great on big hills with the roughest terrain. I've been in some dangerous scenarios with this board and it has never let me down. I keep it in my truck and if I'm near a state park or see some big hills I'll stop and ride this thing. It can handle going super fast, going over roots, taking drops (with some creaking - but no cracking), in forests, fields, roads, skateparks, you name it. It's a hell of a lot of fun though I would warn the average Joe with no experience - be careful on massive hills and know how you're going to fall in case you do. The brake on it won't stop you if you're going fast and I've been on hills so steep the brake won't do anything to slow you down. You'll want to use the foot straps included but I took mine off as I got more experience. I've been using this board pretty regularly for over a year and after a while I wanted to jump off quicker as I was attempting some pretty intense rides. It took a little bit to learn how to ride it without the straps at speed and on rough terrain but for me personally I feel safer not being strapped in. Overall, this board is great! Rolls smooth, stable up to super fast speed (I have experienced some wobble on large, steep, road hills), and is a great way to experience nature in a whole new way. I have personally used this board to ride down 45 degree hills in the forest, over roots and rocks, down 6 foot at least drops, on some of the steepest roads you can find, and just around town. It's lightweight and holds up really well to absolute torture. Great buy!! Riding it really teaches you balance and confidence in hairy situations if you do it enough. I would recommend this board to anyone as it has been a wonderful outlet to get me out in nature and see new places. ... show more

  • Good introductory board
I just got this board for Christmas, and I was completely excited! I immediately took it out to our driveway, only to be instantly disappointed by its slow speed. In about ten minutes, though, after I had read the manual (it's quite handy), I pumped up the tires to 22 psi and it works like better than magic. I have snowboarded for two years, and I found it to come quite easily. The only problem is the brakes. After about fifty feet of snow, the brakes slip so badly that they hardly do anything. I do recommend the brakes because if you live somewhere withOUT shallow enough grades to learn to ride, the brakes are almost essential. Also, the brakes had to be adjusted when I first rode it. The foot straps are adjustable, and the brake cord is longer than the nylon strip connecting the handle to the board, which allows you to use the brake handle to pull it up the hill. Overall, a very good board, but it does require some simple initial preparation. ... show more

  • Great starter board. Would love stronger brakes though.
I had done a bit of skateboarding but, as a hard core skier, had this fantasy of going down the slopes in the summer. I saw the regular mountain boards but I also wanted to go down some hiking trails at a slower pace, hence the need for a brake. However, I quickly learned the brake actually did very little to slow the board down. It did come in handy, however, in learning how to use the board, letting me get a good stance before taking off. The board is of a good quality and well supported my 175 pound frame. All in all a great starter board but the brake is not strong enough to slow you down, only to hold you stationary before starting off. Maybe it would work for someone much lighter. ... show more

  • Great Starter Board
I have never mountain boarded before. I am a snow-kiter, and was looking to try this for summertime kiting. I have used it a couple of times and am very pleased with the quality for the price. The board is very well made and should serve the casual mountain-boarder quite well. The board came fully assembled, but like any piece of sports equipment you are going to want to go through it carefully before first use. For instance, the tires had hardly any pressure in them, so I had to pump them up. Also, the bolts that hold the trucks on were pretty loose, so best to check everything before heading out. The brake assembly works ok when dry, not so good when wet. I never intended to leave it on for kiting anyway, so I took it off, which was very easy, just two quick allen wrench bolts. ... show more

  • Board quality bad Board quality bad
This board is fun yes I am a long boarder and this is my first mountain board so I haven't done any major jumps or anything on it. The board is not sturdy wood I only road it 4 times for short periods of time and it's already cracking on both sides of the trucks on both ends and when I'm ride it it sounds like it's cracking. The hand brakeis good for my first time riding a board with one I didn't have to adjust it or anything like any other bike breaking system which I think is cool and I been boarding since a kid started on trick board on a back road and I do really like the brake feature on this board. The tires good like any other assembly I had to put air in the tires as well as checking the tightness on all hardware. Overall the board is a nice design yet very vibrant yet swift on carvs but very disappointed to that I paid what I did for it to ride it 4 times to find out the board quality is bad and only had it 2 weeks ... show more

  • Coolest toy EVER!!!
I was skeptical at BEST ordering my MBS. I've never mountain boarded, but I've been training my 118LB Alaskan Malamute for the dune sled races, and it was time to move up from a skateboard... This thing is UBER COOL!!! We ride street and trails, and this thing is outta control! It feels so like water or snow and so UNLIKE wheels- its unbelievable. Keep your tools handy, as you'll ALWAYS wanna be making adjustments. Put slime in your tires right away- a flat is DEADLY, and learn to trust your bindings and USE YOUR BRAKES! Brakes are a MUST- I took mine off before I botheres to LEARN em and I won't ride w/o em again. ALL in all- 5 stars from a guy who NEVER writes reviews unless I'm complaining. ... show more

  • MBS Mountainboards Company is over-and-above fantastic!
We ordered the MountainBoard through Amazon. One of the inner tubes did have a small hole.. I tried to replace just the inner tube through Amazon so that I wouldn't have to repackage and lug it back to a shipping port but they are unable to replace just a part. I checked the MBS website and contacted BC Surf and Sort at Park Meadows. The gal that answered said that they do not carry parts at their store but offered to call the Colorado Springs store to see if they carry the inner tubes. I was promptly contacted by Rob from Colorado Springs store. He had already contacted the MBS there in Colorado Springs about the part because they do not carry them at that store either. He said that he was going to stop by the MBS on his way home from work, pick up the part and then send it on the store trucks to the Park Meadows store where I could pick it up. How sweet! MBS replaced the item at no charge and no hassle to me. Not only do they take care of the customer, but they obviously work with other companies that care as much about making things right when there is a problem. Even one as small as an inner tube. Thanks MBS, I look forward to shopping with you again! ... show more
