I’m an athletic built 230 pound guy and the thing holds me in the exact orientation in the water you’d want to be. The chest pocket is extremely accessible, the fact that makes a little table to hold things is phenomenal consideration. The two-piece front flotation makes maneuvering on a small craft as easy as it can be.     • It's a 5 star for 99% of the population. 4 star because of small nitpicks.
I was in the USCG for 8. years. 1st class boatswain's mate. I was a coxswain and tactical coxswain. did security detail in small boats. My review will be very different from what normal people would not consider. The quick release - I thought this was weird because I see that the quick release does work but if you have the other 3 straps along the sides straped into the buckles, is it really a quick release then? I couldn't get out of the vest in a "quick manner" Now, however, the quick release really is quick if you dont strap the 3 straps on the side of the quick release; the vest will then be held along the waist only by quick release strap. That would make sense then if it was done this way. I didn't know which way it was supposed to be done. the small pocket on the left and right side - its a nice small pocket to keep really tiny things in it. however, it was extremely hard to acess it when i have my vest on. you have to have very flexible shoulders to reach to it. maybe if it was moved forward an inch or 2 it would be much better. the mesh on the inside of the jacket that touches your back. I understand why its there but i felt that was an unnecessary thing to have. I just felt like it can get caught on dry suits with zippers or anything else that flows through there. these are nitpicks by someone with a military background so this may not even matter at all. however, to me it was weird. if we take these nitpicks out, its an amazing jacket and i absolutely love it. ... show more

I'm part of a swiftwater/flood rescue technical rescue team, so we rely on our jackets to be able to withstand some pretty difficult conditions. This was the real deal, and had fast shipping on top of that. It immediately got put to use, and has been through the ringer already, between flood rescue, kayak towing and several other situations with no issues.
