Like many other, I purchased for ironing while sewing. It fits well at the end of my workspace. It does, however, have a smell when using, but quickly goes away. My cat immediately went to this when I opened the plastic bag (shipped also in an appropriate box -yay) and was all about it. I believe it is the lanolin smell that attracted her, but it also tells me at this is really wool. Shape, size, and material work well for my purposes. Instead of using this as a saddle pad, I read online that it makes a great surface to iron fabric and quilts because of the wool material. Buying a purpose made wool mat was significantly more expensive compared to buying this and cutting it to size. I gave it as a gift and heard that it worked perfectly, so five stars even if for a slightly different purpose 😉 ... show more

Like a lot of the reviewers here, I purchased this to use as an ironing pad. It works great. If you’re using a lot of steam it will seep through. I made a cover for it because of the little wool fibers shedding off with some scrap cotton, tie-blankets style. I cut it in half so I could use it hamburger or hotdog shaped for longer pieces of fabric (IYKYK). I would give it a 4.9 if I could, but want to make sure sewers know that it does smell like horse when heat is applied. Your fabric will lose the smell after a bit but it’s noticeably stinky when you’re ironing. ... show more

Like many others I used it as a pad for my ironing board. It is a small table top one and there was enough to cover a nearly standard sized one. It's perfect and I already have forgotten hitting those annoying rivets. There is no smell.

It is a huge square of wool to iron on. It is wool so I don't use a lot of steam else it smells like wet wool - just like the 'quilters' grey pads. The little very expensive 'quilters' grey pads are fine to take to a class, but when you need to do a lot of ironing (think completed top or lots of HST all out in front of you) this is perfect for the job! It lays flat - I put a bunch of magazines on it as it was folded for shipping - did the job & it is flat flat flat now. Brown color is not obnoxious, but brown is not grey if your quilt/sewing/craft room cares. I would buy this again in a heart beat! ... show more
