This works amazing for me!! Before I put in the new litter for my cats I cover the bottom of the litter box. Then, if needed, in between changing litters I will sprinkle some in when scooping their waste. Now, it does have a loud smell, however it goes away within 5-10 minutes, and my cats don’t have a problem with it either.

Punches well above its price!

Odor elimination is solid, but not the longest lasting. I like that you can just pour it on top and my cat will mix it for me. However, this may mean I have to do multiple layers because by virtue of mixing, the deodorizer gets diluted. In terms of anti-clumping, it seems to be pretty good at what is advertised. Not all the litter can be separated, but I noticed the litter remaining relatively clean from smaller particles I struggled to scoop out before using this product. Litter definitely lasts longer, maybe 25-50% depending on how effective your litter already is at preventing clumps. I had used a few amazon brands, this one being by far the best value. For < $5, I get about a month-month and a half of use from a box, depending on how well I keep her litter box clean. I tried my best to alternate brands and see which performed the best, but to be honest, they were all comparable. I think ARM& Hammer was about middle of the pack in terms of odor reduction, but all of them were so close anyways. I noticed this one might start to lose its freshness half a day to a day earlier than the strongest brand, but that brand was also 3x as expensive. I think if you accept the only way to truly eliminate odors is to keep your cat's litter box clean, this does 75-90% as well as the absolute best alternative, but at a fraction of the price. For me, this is a regularly purchased product, so the cost savings for a completely serviceable, albeit not the best product, is more than worth it.

If you're looking for a solution to the disgusting smell of owning a cat, this, combined with the cat litter genie, are it! I live in a small studio in Chicago and was desperate for a solution to the odor. After many searches, trying different types of litter, various air fresheners and cleaning the litter on a daily basis….I was at the end of my rope. I had conceded to the notion that my apartment would just always smell a little "cat lady-ish". So not a turn on for when I entertain suitors. ;) Then I found this wonderful product while trying to decide if it the litter genie was worth it. At first I didn't buy the deodorizer because I thought…it's just a gimmick. So I actually bought this the first time at my local walmart because it was on sale. I did as one of the reviewers suggested (start with clean litter box, sprinkle bottom of box with deodorizer, then add litter. I think sprinkled a layer ontop of the litter…especially around the edges since that's where the pee…"aka worst smell ever" usually ends up and every time I clean the box I sprinkle a little more just to be safe) I gotta tell you…my apartment smells fresh and clean all the time now thanks to that stuff. I don't walk into my apartment and immediately inhale urine or poop smell…rather cleanliness. I have gotten in the habit of cleaning the cat box every morning (or every other morning) and depositing the stuff in the litter genie. (Also an amazing product and TOTALLY worth it) Using this method has essentially solved all of my cat odor problem. Only complaint is that I wish the box was bigger. I only have one cat and since I sprinkle more each time I clean it…or every other time I clean it, I run through a box in maybe a week/two weeks. But since it's freaking amazing I just bought 4 the next. Seriously…give this a try…you won't regret it. But keep in mind this doesn't mean you can get away without cleaning the box…just means it's not as offensive and largely when I stay ontop of cleaning it I don't smell it at all. As oops to when you still clean regularly but there is always still that lingering odor from old litter…this makes that smell basically not existent. Seriously a life saver….I'll continue to buy this product for as long as I own a cat! (But please Arm & Hammer…help pet owners out and offer a larger size at an affordable price!)
