I got a pair of the textures leather that does not include a zippered side. While that is specifically what I wanted, I'm noticing that a zipper would add a lot of ease of use to these otherwise good shoes. The shoes are attractive and seemingly well built. They are comfortable to wear for several hours, including walking, but they do have their limits. The insole seems thin, or maybe there is some layer of the sole that is missing that would be present on a more premium shoe. For what you pay, it is a good value. I'm not a huge fan of the boxy laces they're packaged with. The pull tabs on the back for pulling your shoe on are not big enough to actually put my finger through, so they end up useless. My last criticism would to be adding a small roll of extra material at the top of the ankle. When breaking in the shoes, the edge of the ankle would dig into my leg. It could've been padded out a bit to offer overall comfort and ease break-in.

I've worked through my fair share of zipper boots and they are definitely above average. People notice them and compliment them. Solid zipper, decent laces and comfortable. The interior is soft enough that there was nearly zero break in days. These also seem to hold up in our brutal Minnesota weather quite well with nice grippy soles. I'm about 8 months in and there is some minor fracturing of the surface in the most stressed parts on the sides of my toe joints, but it's only visible if I'm standing on my toes or extending my foot out. I will probably purchase a replacement at the 1-year mark and wear those for office work and keep the originals for home/out and about.

I had just about given up finding a pair of cap toe ankle boots with a zipper. I tried several other and was disappointed. Either the fit was bad, or too hard to get on and off even with the zipper. These were my last shot before giving up. So glad I did... They are perfect! Once laced up for desired fit, the zipper extends down to about .75" from the sole. Getting them on is a breeze. The leather is supple and pliant, so they slip right on. Break-in was less than a day. Sole seems rugged and not prone to early wear. Insole is very comfortable, but space in toe and forward of instep seems like it would allow a cushioned insole if needed. After first try on (ordered black) immediately ordered brown-black for additional wardrobe matches. Beyond pleased. UPDATE: This is a good update. I wear the brown and black bots fairly constantly. I have travelled with them both for business and pleasure. I do wear them with suits and they look fantastic. I wore them on a long vacation in Chicago and they stood up to all challenges and were comfortable to wear all day. I did shine both the brown and black. For the black it was a transformation (a good one) to go from matte black to shiny black. They look fantastic with suits or jeans. I love them so much that I bought a spare pair in both the black and darker brown. When these wear out I have a backup (no early signs of that happening any time soon, and I have worn them for 6 month constantly)... Only because I don't want them to not be made when I want a new pair. Again... Beyond pleased.

The quality and look of these boots impressed me, especially for this price. All in all the perfect casual dress boot for the fall and winter. The outer shell is all leather, very nicely stitched, and real stitching around the base. The ankle is padded with a soft material, and the interior has a soft lining. The sole seems to be quite rugged, appears to be 2 layers with the tread component made of a tougher material, much better than the thin soles typically found on this type of boot. The first time I wore them was on a day traveling with 3 flights connections, with the side zip they were easy to take off at security, and comfortable on long dashes through the airport. So far I've worn them about 5 days, and they feel great. The specific ones I bought are Chelsea Boots - Coffee 803.

On delivery and for the first few months of almost daily use the boot is comfortable and a perfect pair to your outfit. Unfortunately the low craftsmanship starts to show very quickly as the thin string used to stich the body of the boot together starts to come apart. The toe cap stitching went first and revealed that the boot is very loosely constructed and then the entire side started to come apart revealing that the leather is not actually stitched to the sole but glued down. I got a year and some change out of them which wouldnt be so bad if the price point were around 10-20% lower. I have a pair of Stacey Adams that i bought for about the same price that show 0 of the same wear issues. Verdict: Cheap boot that will work well in a pinch or as a last minute wedding or interview shoe but you are better off spending a little more for better workmanship or a little less for an expected throw away boot.
