  • This Vintage Disco Queen Took A Walk On the Cowgirl Side & Now Her Feet Are Riding Fatbaby(s) ;-)
Love these boots! Actually, I live in the northeast and resemble a cowgirl about as much as disco music resembles country music....you can see the similarities, right? This is my second pair of Fatbaby Boots. The first pair were purchased on a whim "gently used" from a seller on that most popular auction website that Ends in BAY. At the time I was looking for a sturdy boot to trudge through the icy, sloppy, new England winter in, not looking specifically for a "cowgirl" boot, but the price was unbeatable and I was curious. Here it is 2yrs later and it can be said that these boots are unbeatable and are still handsome to boot! They have been worn 5 out of 7 days per week for 3 seasons each year (would have been 4 seasons if I was 40yrs younger!). Most of my other boots and shoes are an 8.5 or euro 39. The Fatbaby boots I purchased on the auction website were an 8 and I was a little skeptical about the fit because I normally wear a size 8.5 shoe and can even go to a size 9 in a boot with thick socks on my feet. I have average width feet, not wide or narrow; I have a high arch and instep as well as a hammertoe on my left foot. (TMI?). However, the size 8 was perfect! So, I purchased these new Fatbaby Cowgirl boots in an 8, mostly because they were $20 less than the size 8.5 which I likely would have bought if the prices were the same. Once again, the size 8 fits perfectly right from the start, even in a brand new boot! These fit like a shoe approved by the American Orthopedic Association but look as fashionable (Wild?) as the Cowgirls that I imagine they were intended for! I wear these boots with medium weight wool blend socks. There is plenty of room for all my toes and there is no pressure across the top of my high instep or at the front of the boot across the ankle. I can not feel any of the seams or stitching the way other reviewers have written that they can. The back of the heel sometimes moves but does not rub or bind. The footbed is not like walking on a cloud. It is firm but comfortable and very supportive. The innersole is removeable and I can fit the semirigid type orthotics inside very comfortably if I choose to, but find orthotics are not necessary because the boot is very supportive in and of itself. The nonskid sole is not lugged and is not as thick as my first pair of Fatbaby Boots (which show absolutely no wear on the tread) but it does seem to be more than adequate. The shaft is soft and supple, not thick and rigid, fabric lined inside and suedelike finish outside. The height is just right on my leg under wool, corduroy, or denim pants. (I'm 5'6" and weigh about 140 lbs, size 10) The decorative stitching is lovely, the workmanship is high quality. The top opening is very roomy on me but I do have thinner than average calves. (Like I said, I'm no cowgirl) Great fit, Great fashion, Great performance, great price! These may be my second pair of Fatbaby Boots but I'm sure they will not be my last. Go ahead....take a walk on the Cowgirl side! ... show more

  • Best footwear purchase of the year!
I bought these boots because I have 2 western themed events this year -- I've never owned boots before. I found them cute and I had never heard of the name brand before. I wore these boots on 2 full travel days of flights and walking through airports and they were absolutely comfortable. I wore these boots with a skirt and they are adorable. Since buying and posting pictures in them, I've had so many people tell me what a smart choice these were as they last forever (we'll see!) But they are quickly staying in my shoe rotation! ... show more

  • Too tight through arch
Size: 7 Color: Distressed Brown/Hot Leaf
These boots are visually exactly what I want. Understated, but still with a bit of color. The color of leather was perfect (for me) and I didn't mind that they will easily get scuffed and look lived in. However, I say this as that might bother some. They also definitely seem like something that would be good to ride in and not just as something to wear out. While I didn't stand in them for a while (see next paragraph), I think they would be comfortable if they fit properly. And that is coming from someone who's feet can't take all those thin soled shoes that reviews say "I could stand in these all day." However, these boots did not work for me. I am flat footed with a normal to wide foot and I'd say average calf size. The boots weren't too tight or too loose around my calves. For those who wear size 7 on other Ariat boots, I found the boot length seemed in line with all but one other pair of Ariat boots I've owned/tried on. I found the toe box not roomy, but my toes had enough room. The issue was in the arch area. While the boot was only a bit narrow for my taste, it was not tall enough. Not only was it challenging to get my foot into the boot, they were very tight across the top of my feet. Specifically, top close to the inside of my feet. Enough that I don't want to bet that breaking them in will be enough. ... show more

  • Boot scooting to a happy tune with happy feet
I'm close to 60 years old with wide, hard-to please- feet. I wear 7 1/2 - 8 shoes. I work at a high school with handicap kids and wanted a good looking, comfortable boot to show off, and most likely wear everyday. I like the look of the ariats fatbaby and visited a few local stores to try on the fatbaby boots. In a 7 1/2 my heel slid too easily. The saleslady said the heel should not slide around that much and so I tried 7. They were a bit snugger but my heel wasn't so snug, allowing a "slight" movement as she indicated it should, explaining that the leather will loosen and mold to my foot. So I went home ordered a size 7 from Amazon still feeling nervous about the size. I received the boots within 2 days (on my birthday:) I had to work my foot into this brand new stiff boot, but once on I never took them off! I went shopping, to lunch and just out doodling around. I've had them five days, they are by far the most comfortable boot - or even shoe I own. So so comfortable. I love them and wear them everyday to work. If you are undecided on size - a 1/2 size smaller is best, or locate them at the nearest farm or sport store, try them on and go home to order on Amazon. You won't be disappointed! And like me, you won't want to take them off! ... show more
