Description
We're Arcturus, an outdoor company from Washington State. We know a few things about cold, wet weather, and that's why we developed our line of all weather, survival blankets. It is a must have for hikers, campers and boaters. This survival blanket is extra large, measuring 8.5 feet by 12 feet when fully deployed and weighs just over 4 pounds. This unique blanket features a Mylar reflective side which can be used to reflect heat, create a radiant barrier, or signal for help. The other side is made of two layers of polypropylene, which creates a waterproof barrier and can be used as a blanket, tarp or shelter. This survival blanket weighs just over 4 pounds and packs down to 4” x 10” x 14" inside the included carry bag. Upgraded size means upgraded grommets. The new claw-style grommets are designed to grab the reinforced nylon patches rather than press into the patches. Using the same quality materials as our standard size survival blanket, the extra large size is waterproof, windproof and reflects/deflects heat.

Rugged and Useful Tarp for Camping
Color: Orange
I already owned the smaller Arturus Survival Tarp, but I wanted to get the XL version to have as an emergency shelter. It's HUGE!!! I removed the tarp from its sleeve (which is made of the same material as the tarp) and opened it up. It seems to be of very high quality and unlike lesser similar tarps, this one feels like it will last me for many years. Like the tarp material itself, the grommets are reinforced and feel like they will withstand some abuse. Due to the thickness of the material, it is heavier than my other tarps, but not overly so. I got the orange color which looks great with the black accents and will also make my position obvious if I ever need search and rescue (which I probably won't, but who knows?). Based upon the rugged quality, I am satisfied that it will be worth the price...this is a beast of a tarp!!! I am going to take it camping in a couple of weeks (Michigan in July!). If it's sunny, I will use stakes and poles to erect this into a lean-to shelter with the reflective side facing up. I think it will work well in this capacity. I am also a winter camper, so I will likely use it in the cold as a heat reflector by my campfire. Even though I haven't used this in the field (other than a couple of mock-ups in my house), I am happy with my purchase of the Arcturus XL Survival Tarp. The only con I've found so far is that once you remove the tarp from its sleeve, it's a bear to fold it tightly enough so it will fit back into it. The zippered sleeve is simply going to become a storage pouch for another tarp, I guess. If it doesn't perform during my camping trip, I will come back and update my review.

Durable, Versatile, and Built to Last!
Color: Black
The Arcturus XL Survival Tarp is an absolute must-have for anyone who loves the outdoors. This tarp is incredibly well-made, with heavy-duty materials that can stand up to just about anything. Whether I’m using it as a shelter, ground cover, or reflective blanket, it performs flawlessly every time. The reflective Mylar side is a game-changer for retaining heat in colder conditions, while the durable waterproof side provides excellent protection from rain and wind. At 10x12 feet, the size is perfect for a wide range of setups, and the reinforced grommets make it easy to secure in any environment. Despite its rugged design, the tarp is surprisingly lightweight and compact when packed, making it easy to carry on camping trips or store in a bug-out bag. It’s clear that Arcturus put a lot of thought into the design of this product. If you’re looking for a reliable survival tarp that can handle tough conditions, the Arcturus XL is worth every penny. I couldn’t be happier with it!

The reflective side works!
Color: Black
Why did you pick this product vs others?: I selected this tarp/ survival blanket because it actually has a reflective side vs just being a grey color. It works! I was camping in a heat wave with no AC, and this tarp made a huge difference once I put it on the roof of the tent. I instantly felt a difference. It really did reflect the heat from the sun rays that were coming through the roof. It was still hot and humid here in the South, but big difference. This tarp will stay in my truck for future camping trips. I took 1 star away because the binding isn't sewn correctly, so the tarp isn't perfectly flat like it should be. It had some slight bunching. I haven't measured it to make sure the dimensions are accurate. I used it for the first time on this 4 day camping trip. It held up well. Overall, the quality is good for the price. I would purchase another one because of how well the reflective side works. I don't know how it does in high winds or rain yet.

GREAT BUY, BOUGHT THE XL AND REG, SATISFIED!!
Color: Olive Green
Ok so I went big and bought both the XL(Green) and the Camo regular size. The XL is a beast 12x8.5 and is nice material, feels solid, gromets are well placed not just in the corners and the stitching is great, they did a very well job reinforcing the hornets, and they are big, I can almost stick my thumb threw one. The Mylar is nice and on the 4th I wrapped me amd my daughter(probably could have fit entire family) sitting on it amd snugged up to watch fireworks, instantly you can feel urself getting warmer, even had 2 fireworks go off on the tarp!!!(drunk neighbors😡) and it left a small white spot, was sure it would have burnt threw.....I like this product so much i ordered the regular size amd will now use this as cover and small one as foot print for my Bivy, I also bought thier wool blanket in grey...its great, so much so that they are local and I will be going for a visit and hopefully a job application, I stand by this product 100% 20 year Survivalist, Woodsman, FF, Paramedic, Hunter/Fisherman, Prepper. I was looking at buying the DD tarp but glad I didn't, the extra gromet holes wasn't worth the 30$ extra....buy this, if you dont like it return it...my money is you wont lwt it go and will look at thier other products, BTW comes in a zip bag made out of the same material as the tarp, so if you do get a hole or tear you can patch it up using that and just find another bag or ouch to keep it in. Good luck and Godspeed, thank you for your time

Not happy with the product, needs improvement
Color: Olive Green
5 STARS FOR COSTOMER SERVICE -10 STARS FOR XL SURVIVAL BLANKET The grommets ripped right out on the first night I took it out, I hardly had any pressure on them. The reflection coating is coming off after the first night as well. UPDATE: I contacted the seller about the problem and they quickly responded. They are replacing the XL tarp. I hope the new one holds up better. UPDATE #2: The new replacement tarp did the same thing. The grommets pulled out when tying the tarp down. I hardly had to put any pressure on them and they came right out of the fabric again. I let the company know and am now waiting on a response. UPDATE #3: Arcturus responded quickly, refunded the money and sent me their original tarp that is smaller. I'm happy with the quality of their original one. If they made the XL tarp out of the same material it probably would have been a lot better quality. Over all, I didn't get the product that I wanted but they have excellent customer service and delt with the problem well.

Can’t believe how great this works!
Color: Woodland Camo
Honestly AMAZING! We went camping in this summer heat, 93+ degree days. I bought an AC unit for our tent, but wanted something to block the heat. So I bought this tarp. Threw it over the top of the tent and it covered most of it. I had NO IDEA the impact that is made, until I took the tarp off of the tent when I started to put the camp setup away. The AC was almost useless without this tarp! Can’t recommend this enough! I’ve already told a bunch of people who love camping!

Supporting a locally owned business
Color: Woodland Camo
First off, I’m always proud to support a locally owned business. I have a little experience with cloaks of this sort, whose existence is only recently starting to be revealed. A similar item has been used by the US military for some time now to defeat thermal detection and targeting systems. This ain’t the same but it works similarly by using the same principle; the real stuff has a quieter outer shell combined with extra layers of insulation to resist transferring heat to the outer layer. For a civilian option under $100, or $300 for that matter, this is nothing to scoff at. So, if you’re one of “those guys,” this and a woobie blanket can make you invisible to thermal detection in the field. For the rest of us, it makes for an excellent tent or shelter in the cold, wet winters of the PNW. With a single cord and a few stakes, you can have a 6’ x 8’ shelter that’s rainproof and will insulate you from the cold while amplifying any heat source. You can also create a “tube tent” at 4’ tall if you’re forced to bed down on wet soil. My only complaint is the camo pattern used on the XL blanket. I wish it used the same pattern as their standard size as its more convincing in the field. Despite that, the pattern used is still better than any solid shade if you’re trying to not be seen. Once the flooding from the Atmospheric Rivers of 2025 finally recedes and I’m able to visit my favorite camping sites, I’ll record some footage with my thermal optic to demonstrate its effectiveness in defeating thermal sensors.
