  • Very good product, highly recommend
Size: Large
Tried this out on the recommendation of a friend.I have not been disappointed. As with all cooler applications, Pre-chilling both the cooler and the contents is paramount for optimal performance. While the Arctic-Ice literature states that you can use it to completely replace the need for standard ice, I have found that for beer cooler/tailgating type use this does not work well. That said, what it does do is virtually eliminate ice melt within the cooler up until the phase change has completely occurred. I put 2-4 2.5lb panels in my K2 20 quart, along with ice and beer, and in my 65 quart Yeti use 2-3 of the 5 lb panels, plus ice and beer. Without having some ice in the cooler, there is too much airspace, which gets filled with warm air each time you open the cooler. This causes the panels to change phase more quickly than desired, and the beer to be slightly warmer than optimal. By using a combination of ice and Chillin Brew panels, you can achieve good ice to beer contact, with a minimum of air space. This will give you very cold beer, and good solid ice for 1 1/2 - 2 days, even with getting in and out of the cooler constantly. This works very well for me, as we typically spend all weekend on the lake, and I virtually never have to add ice to the cooler throughout the weekend. Alternately, if you are looking to pack food for a vacation, camping trip, etc, there is no need for ice, as you won't be getting in and out of the cooler. For this application I really like the panels much better than ice, because you don't end up with a watery mess. One trick I like to do is to put any raw meet in the bottom of the cooler (in plastic bags of course), then put a Arctic Ice panel laying flat on top of it, and put my other fresh items in the top (Fresh items also in plastic bags for safety). If you do happen to end up with a slight leak, the panels are dishwasher safe, making cleanup a breeze. I don't typically try to transport frozen items that absolutely need to stay frozen, nor do I care if my fresh items such as carrots, celery, get a bit frosty. For this reason I find the Chillin' Brew version of the panels to be the only variety of Arctic-Ice that I need. That said, if you want to strictly handle frozen items, or refrigerator temp items, you may want to look at either the Tundra series or Alaskan series. ... show more

  • Expensive but quality
Size: Large
I bought four of these which hurt my wallet, but they fit so well in the cooler, that they're totally worth it. Stay cool as expected.

  • Found a great use on accident for these
Size: Large
Bought a couple of the 2.5 pound sizes to use with my RTIC 20 soft-side cooler. Haven't ever used them in that yet. What I found out, quite by accident, is that they work great for keeping the temps cold in my travel-trailer refrigerator. In the past, it always struggled to keep things frozen in the freezer and stuff in the fridge cold. It did a descent job, but left a lot to be desired. I froze the ice blocks in my deep freeze before a trip and I was planning on using them in the RTIC 20. I wanted to keep them frozen for the 2 hour trip, so I threw them in the freezer of the trailer. Due to how the freezer worked in the past, I kinda had my doubts that it would keep them frozen, but it did. Not only that, but my freezer and fridge were at temps I expected, and it hardly ever runs. Making this discovery on accident, I now swap out two of the ice packs in the freezer / fridge. One in the freezer, and one in the fridge. When the one in the fridge melts, then I switch them again. Have to do it about once a day (probably twice when it gets hot), but it really makes the freezer and fridge in my trailer work a lot better, and run a lot less. Since I leave my trailer plugged in at my house all summer long, using these ice packs will probably save more in electricity in a year than what they cost since the fridge won't need to run nearly as often. I'm going to buy a couple of the 5-pound blocks because they will still fit in the fridge and should last an entire day before swapping even in the heat. As a bonus, I could used them in my RTIC 45 cooler too. ... show more

  • Works
Size: Medium 1.5 lb
I use this in a RTIC 12 can soft cooler. Load it at 7am and get home at 5pm. At work it is in 70F room temp. office. By Lunch time 12pm, the ice is still frozen slightly melting. Food and drink are cold. Coca Cola is COLD! (I hate slightly cold soda) but it is not frozen which is good. By the time I get home, the ice is half melted; however, it still has a little layer of frost on the arctic label and is really cold. Items in the cooler, lock n lock container, is still really cold as well. NOTE: Items I put into the bag in the morning is cold from the refrigerator and not room temp items. I didn't pre-chill the RTIC 12 cooler bag as people say to...possibly might help keep ice longer. I haven't tested longer periods of time as I'm lazy. Just reporting my day to day use. Overall good experience...could be a great Ice pack or maybe its the cooler that maintains ice well? not sure but this combo works well for me. ... show more

  • 10lb works great!
Size: XX-Large 10lbs
Expensive, but the 10lb block can really boost your cooling power. Will also be using it in the fridge/freezer to keep things cold during loss of power. Very handy to have around.

  • Long Lasting
Size: Large
Made a 50+ hour round trip road trip this last summer and bought these to use in my RTIC cooler. They were a phenomenal option. We'd be driving (stopping overnight) for around 3 days and we wouldn't have to take the cooler into the hotel and put the ice packs into the freezer to keep them going. They would last 3+ days in a pre chilled cooler. They were a little pricey, but I'm confident I will get my money's worth out of them. I'd highly reccomend them to anyone where longevity is a concern. The bonus is that they take up a lot less space than the equivalent ice would, and you don't have to deal with draining it. ... show more
