After looking at some of the other reviews I can only assume that I received a more recent update to this product because I had none of the issues described. All parts were there, holes lined up, the finish was fine and when placed into the ground using all four spikes, it's as solid as can be expected for something that came in a box. I set up mine as the entrance to my shade garden and already planted a star jasmine at the base to climb it.
