  • awful
after a long day of work i just wanted to relax with a good chick flick, or maybe a horror film, or maybe both. Aquarium for your Home was neither! awful!! the plot line was completely static and the dialogue was really stilted, basically whenever there was an argument they just blew bubbles at each other. the passion just wasn't there but what can you expect when EVERYBODY ON THE FREAKING SCREEN IS A FISH. what kind of "experimental" film is this?? they should have tried throwing hillary duff in there i think she would have been great as the arch-nemesis instead of that stupid purple fish. to be fair the costumes and make up were pretty great. but really guys... FISH. REALLY. come on, you can do better than that. you could have put in a least one freaking car chase, is that too much to ask. what a waste of my time. you set yourself up for failure by HIRING FISH TO BE YOUR ACTORS, i don't know how any of you thought this would be a good idea. it was so hard for me to follow what was going on i kept getting lost. but i was following it enough to know that also, the plot twist at the end was really uncalled for. the fish couldn't convey the right amount of emotional tact that was needed for such a drama filled scene. this movie was NOT a no. 1 hit with me, it would be MUCH farther down the last than a 5, but they only gave me five stars to work with here. i wish they'd give me 58 stars, cuz id use them all. Aquarium for your Home, YOU ARE A FLOP. ... show more

  • Love it.
Like all three, the river scene is my favorite. Clear video and sound. Great for background while reading, game playing, or even prayer/meditation.

  • Great background ambience
I watch this for free with Amazon Prime. I really like this "screensaver". It is an hour, I use it to gauge my gaming time without having to really pay attention to the clock. My cat likes watching it too. It is soothing to listen to and watch. There is no music, only the aquarium sounds. I don't like the ones with music. I watch this one a couple times per day on average. I do not like dead silence, so this is great if you are bothered by that too. ... show more

  • more like a screensaver) got
I really could not believe the reviews this little film (if you can call it that, more like a screensaver) got. The reviews here on Prime are usually good and help me decide to watch a specific movie, but man, these reviews really failed me this time, totally misleading. I thought it was a movie about an aquarium being built and filmed as time passes showing how it flourished (like the description says), but this thing doesn't even have narration, the camera is only filming the center of the aquarium (not sure if the rest of the movie shows different angles because I turned it off after only a few minutes of the same boring stuff - my freshwater aquarium is more interesting than this). This is just a screensaver folks, don't waste any money on this, unless you are using it for relaxation or whatever. I just feel the description and the reviews are too misleading and some of the reviews sound too "fishy" to me (ha-ha), like they were written by freelance writers who sell reviews. Just a screensaver, not a movie or documentary; just fish swimming around, no narration, no story line or plot - just a screensaver. ... show more

  • An existential vision within the confines of a glass box
I have to admit my presumptions were so very low before I watched this film. C'mon. It's a bunch of fish in a man-made environment meant to simulate the ocean. If you've seen an aquarium at all, ever, this is what it's like. Big deal. Peel away the layers, and suddenly you are involved in a complicated plot with various subplots. You understand it, but it doesn't make sense. At all. The pain. The beauty. Simple, yet such complex life forms. The need for constant motion. The boredom, the repetition of everyday life - how precious it all is, when it changes, and not always for the better. New characters are constantly introduced, and disappear almost as quickly, only to dart in again when you least expect it (there are no small parts). And the lack of dialogue is brilliant, leaving the viewer to draw the obvious conclusion. Sometimes the colors are striking, and sometimes they're jarring. We cannot see the water, but we know it's there. There's a lot to see, actually, but sometimes I wondered if I was really seeing everything. (I've seen better CGI, but remember this is an indie film, with a small budget, and they did what they could with what they could afford.) Is this how the ocean looks, or are we meant to think that this is how the ocean really looks? Would such fishes coexist in this same fashion somewhere in the wild, or only in this limited sphere, four finite glass walls with an artificial glow? The clown fish cannot get away from what it is, even when it is approached by other fish. It cannot get around its own prejudices regarding interspecies dating, and its contrived, almost constant references to a certain Pixar movie. The starfish doesn't move. Ever. Why? Why can't the starfish move? Is it paralysis, or ennui? Some of the undersea plants move very slowly, almost sensually. Some of the undersea plants wave madly, as if in a constant gale - why would the plant need to create so much drama for itself? The end was startling; it asked more questions than it answered. I found myself thinking of Werner Herzog's early films again and again. Then, much to my own distress, I wanted sushi. I took one star off because I didn't need to be lectured, yet again, about global warming and diminishing species, not to mention The Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Everything we do is harmful to the environment, the earth is going to hell, we're all doomed, blah blah blah. Blah. There are sharks. And there are goldfish. And then there's everything in between. We are all fish. The fish are us. Currently available for free with Amazon Prime, and it's worth twice, three times that amount. ... show more

  • Great stress relief
I put this on and relaxed. You can even hear the bubbles in the aquarium. Very nice assortment of fish swimming by. The scenes change every few minutes. Also, there are 3 different videos to choose from.

  • Gorgeous, calming, and amusing
I watch this gorgeous saltwater aquarium over and over, again and again! It is calming, even mesmerizing. And it makes me laugh! My TV is set for captioning as I am hearing-impaired, so I can't help but smile when I see "[bubble]" or "[bloop]" appear, whether it's in background mode as I walk past with laundry or primary viewing as I sit and chill in front of the screen. And it is the biggest, cleanest, and easiest aquarium I've ever had to care for in my life! 😃 ... show more
