  • Sweet, Simple, and Perfect for Little Readers
Format: Board book
“This is such a lovely board book. The story of Annie and her apple farm is simple but engaging, and the bright, cheerful illustrations keep my kid’s attention from start to finish. It’s great for teaching about where food comes from — and there’s even a little counting and sorting mixed in. Perfect for fall reading or any time of year. A wholesome story that’s as sweet as the apples Annie sells.” — Praying to the car gods ... show more

  • Apple Apple
Format: Board book
The 1-year-old can say a few words, but his favorite is “apple” so I bought this site unseen. He loves his Apple Farmer Annie board book. He loves it so much that he took it to bed with him the night it arrived and ended up with a welt on his face. Weeks later he still loves it. He carefully turns the pages saying, “apple.” But now we just take the book away from him before he sleeps. ... show more

  • Apple Farmer Annie
Format: Paperback
As a retired elementary school teacher I am familiar with tons of books. This was a new one for me. My two year old granddaughter loves it. It has great pictures and an engaging educational story. Perfect for the fall. I think it is appropriate for ages 2-6.

  • delightful read; excellent message
Format: Paperback
This is a delightful book and sends an excellent message to young readers as well. I in fact do not think a children's book is required to have a message; it just needs to delight. But the message here is that hard work and being good at something is rewarding, and that's a pretty good message for a young reader to receive. Parents of both girls and boys will appreciate the main character's savvy, entrepreneurial qualities. The illustrations are lovely and bright without being too busy, and the tasty recipes at the end are and added treat. My now four year-old son has gone through two apple picking seasons with this book, and refers to "Apple Farmer Annie" as though she were one of his best pals. I highly recommend this book. Caveat: if you read it to your child in a season other than fall, or if you live someplace where apples don't grow, be prepared to handle the request to visit an orchard! ... show more

  • Richly illustrated, teaches lots of skills
Format: Board book
I originally got this as a library book but my son loved it so much I had to buy it. First, each page can open up a conversation lasting several minutes- there are so many details. Apple colors and numbers, ingredients, showing a process or procedure, shapes (in the street signs), and so much more. It teaches about entrepreneurship, pride in your work, using all of the parts of things, and life skills. The illustrations are the naive folksy style which would make them easy to imitate for a child as well. Highly recommend as a gift with some seasonal apples to eat as you read. If this review is helpful to you, I would grateful if you pressed the "helpful" button below! :) ... show more

  • Great book…BAD packaging from Amazon
Format: Paperback
Purchased the paperback for my preschool class. It’s a great book story to add to our Apple theme. Only problem is the book is totally bent up and looks like my preschoolers already read it. Not a great start. Very disappointed Amazon on the lack of packing to care for the book.

  • Fun to read for me AND my toddler
Format: Paperback
My daughter (2 years old now, but started reading this at around 1.5) immediately loved this book. We used to take it out from the library, but we took it out so frequently, I decided to buy a copy. It's true, there isn't a lot of writing on each page, but there are a lot of pictures and there is a lot of potential for storytelling and explanation from the parent, so it is interesting for both of us to go through. Using this book as a jumping off point, we have learned about cooking, seasons, growing food, road signs, animals, etc. ... show more

  • Great book.
Format: Paperback
My daughter (6) has loved this book for a couple years now. We had a version from Dolly Parton's reading program that also had the Spanish translation and she ended up giving that away in a book drive for underprivileged kids but the next day she was so sad about it so I bought this version. Sometimes my kiddo says she wants to be an apple farmer when she grows up. We have yet to make any of the recipes but she wants to make the applesauce cake. ... show more
