I’ve always been a Bose guy, with three different versions of their over-ear noise-canceling headphones under my belt, and I’ve loved them all. But I bought the Apple AirPods Max in gold for my wife, and now I’ve got to admit—I have headphone envy. These are simply AMAZING. The sound quality is out of this world, rich and balanced across all ranges. The active noise cancellation is top-tier, easily the best I’ve ever experienced. The quality of construction feels incredibly premium—top-shelf materials everywhere you look. The fit is also excellent: comfortable for long sessions without pinching or pressure, which is rare for over-ears. Connectivity is seamless with Apple devices—fast, intuitive, and hassle-free every single time. Battery life is strong, lasting around 20 hours, which is more than enough for long travel days or extended listening sessions. And while I picked up the gold version (which my wife loves), I have to say the other colors look extremely cool as well. They travel well, they’re intuitive to use, and honestly, there just aren’t enough superlatives for these headphones. I "borrow" them every chance I get.

The AirPods Max are absolutely worth it. The sound quality is phenomenal—rich bass, crystal clear mids, and detailed highs. Noise cancellation is top-notch and blocks out distractions better than any headphones I’ve tried. The build feels very premium and comfortable, even for long listening sessions. The seamless connection with Apple devices makes setup effortless, and the spatial audio feature really takes movies and music to another level. Battery life is as expected, the control options on the iPhone make these ultra adjustable, volume is very easy to control, it does an excellent job of noise canceling. They’re not cheap, but the quality and performance definitely live up to the price.

Gone through a few over ear headphones recently. They’ve been okay, things like the Beats Studio Pro. But left some quality on the table I think. I tried a set of these in the Apple Store while getting a screen replaced, packed with 60-70 people, and I was blown away within a few seconds. The sound quality, for any headphone, is insanely good. The noise cancellation is not 100%, but probably about 90%. But the transparency mode is by far the best I’ve ever heard from many different in and over headphones I’ve used. You can hear outside noises, my dogs, conversations, anything, so clearly it literally is like you’re not even wearing headphones. And it doesn’t sound at all distorted or like outside noises are being played, it sounds like you’re not wearing headphones at all. All that with high quality sound together, sounds so good I honestly can’t put words to how well it all works. It’s so good, I’ve started just watching TV with them, connecting to Roku perfectly fine (and still able to use transparency, some headphones I’ve only been able to transparency mode on similar brand products I.e. galaxy headphones on S24 Note) because I can hear everything so perfectly but still hear my dogs, or the door, or whatever, just like normal. I went back and forth for a while on these simply because $500 for a headphone is a lot of money, but they’re absolutely amazing. Also, extremely comfortable. Some over ear headphones don’t cover your entire ear, so parts of it get squished and can become uncomfortable over long periods of time. I often do 3 hour workouts and my ears are over it by the end with everything else I’ve tried. Also, the bands can become uncomfortable. Not with these. They fit over your whole ear but don’t feel tight on your ears or head, and the soft stretching material in the strap makes it almost unnoticeable but still very solid. I can put these on for watching Tv and even lay on my side and they’re still comfortable. Very, very happy.
