This is by far one of the best additions you can do to your furnace. By cheap air filters and change them more often. Those expensive fancy filters are only running your gas bill high in the winter and slowly killing your blower wheel. If you are concerned about air quality and only have a 1” filter slot then this is for you. If you have a 4” filter slot is only when fancy filters help. Do not buy 3M filters. GLASSFLOSS is the brand I recommend and this UV light for air quality. Bulbs last 2 years minimum.

APCO is a good name in the air purification business. The Standard unit is one of four products in this family. It uses a UC-C quartz hot filament tube that requires A 18-32 VAC source. Most Home HVAC systems already have A 24 Vac source and should be able to power this unit that only requires 16 VA. The TUVL-115 UV lamp that come with this product is good for one year and a replacement can be found easily for less than $40.00 Installation was very easy and the instructions provided were easy to follow : Measure using their template and cut a hole into the supply duct. The source duct can also be used but the former is preferred. !. Insert the supplied mounting plate, and either use screws in a metal duct or bend in the tabs for the duct board types. Insert the separately packaged UV tube into the main unit, connect the plug, then insert into the mounting plate inside the duct. Connect the unit to the 24 VAC supply and finish by fastening the cover over the main unit. When operating, (can verify through the viewing hole) the titanium dioxide infused carbon cells that surround the UV tube seem to do a great job absorbing any ozone emitted by the UV lamp ! This product is high quality, easy to install with few tools ,with the good instructions provided!

HVAC Technicians here, these UV lights work wonders, a lot of complaints I here from people about them is they "short" their systems, it is REQUIRED to have a transformer installed along side these UV's (it has to be a separate transformer don't bother trying to wire them into your pre-existing transformer in your unit you will just short your system out). Overall if you're trying to kill mold, VOC's, or bacteria on your indoor coil as well as have a whole home air purification system this is a great solution. One thing I will say is if you already have mold on your coil you HAVE to clean the coil BEFORE installing the UV light, it kills mold but it takes time and if there's already a bunch of fungus on there the UV can't kill it fast enough, so clean It up then install.

Unit short circuited after installation while managing cords, tucking cords to side of heat pump. I immediately removed the unit as to not cause any damage to my heat pump and AC. Returned it in April, but was provided a USPS label that couldn't be tracked after I dropped off at UPS store. They are now refusing to issue a refund because they "don't have my return". Basically lost $750 over this scam. Nothing but condescending comments from customer service; they couldn't care any less about the situation. Amazon won't do anything because this seller is a third party vendor. The $60 light I purchased instead from another company works flawlessly.
