Compared to my old one, I didn't have to drill N screw to my desk! I had a bit of maintenance to my old on that was pretty flimsy. Screws at the joints came out, a spring broke, light bulb burned out. THIS ONE!! Has a Heavy Duty metal clamp (not plastic), the arms (also heavy gauge square tubing) have thumb turns! PROS For the price range this is a very good product for what I need it for, which is painting miniatures. It has a coil on the side that is to put the hot soldering pen for electronics, but for me it can help to hold brushes or other things. LED Light is very good and the magnifying glass along with the 2 smaller auxiliary 5X and 8X glasses are handy. It is AC/DC power enabled, so that's useful if your power outlet is not at close range. SMALL CONS (this is just me being picky, but I like the product) Though the feel of the metal knobs when adjusting and repositioning the metal bars with clamps is not great (you can tell the material and construction is not AAA), you kinda' have to fasten them very hard so they're not loosen easily. Other small drawback is the short AC power cord it's like 2.5 or 3" long, but then again if you have an outlet or power strip close enough it shouldn't be a problem Packaging was a bit damaged, and the quality of the box was very low. Besides, after you put the helping hand all together it doesn't fit in the box so it doesn't encourage you to put it back in the box when you're not using it. For me it does the job just fine, and for the price I paid I'm very happy with the product. ... show more
