I sent my well-used Canon 7D-II into Canon for cleaning, and, among other things, they reported that there had been seepage into the body thru the hot shoe. My _hope_ is that this item will slow that down some. It is rubbery, and it fits VERY snugly, so it looks like this simple object should work. Other reviewers say that this will NOT perfectly plug those holes. They might be tight, but it looks to me like it should help a lot.     • Good price, fit nice and snug in the Nikon D700 and Fuji X100
slapped these two on my Nikon D700s, because who knows where the stock little black ones are. And sometimes I use them when my cameras are mounted on my tripod and the level built into my ball head is covered. Simple, kind of a hard-ish rubber, not plastic so they fit nice and tight, with a bit of grip to them so there is a very little chance these will come out on their own, also have one from another order mounted to my Fuji X100. ... show more

I thought this was just going to be a gimmick little cover to protect my contacts. I have found that. I absolutely love this on my cameras. Protect the contacts and look quite nice at the same time. The levels do a good job also.

Bought these to use while doing real estate photography and they’ve come in very handy. I’m using them just as an extra measure to make sure all my shots are leveled, these combined with camera horizon level and the tripod bubble all my real estate shots are perfect. It slides in easily and the fit is snug on my Sony A7III, at this point I just leave it on my camera all the time. ... show more

Not sure why they mention "flashlight." Too small to really act as a level, but it sometimes does. And to keep crud from getting on exposed hot shoe contacts, they're ace and cheap.

These protective inserts for a Nikon DSLR work enough to protect the hot shoe. The rubbery texture however causes them to slide slightly in the hot shoe.
