Description

This Anvil nipple is a schedule 40 steel pipe fitting with a galvanized finish and male National Pipe Taper (NPT) threads on both ends for joining two pipes or extending pipe length. It has NPT threads for creating a tighter seal than straight threads. This fitting is made of steel and has a galvanized finish to provide greater rust resistance than iron and can be used for water, steam, and air applications. This schedule 40 nipple meets specifications ASTM A53 and ASME B 1.20.1 for quality assurance. Pipe fittings are components used for connecting, terminating, controlling flow, and changing the direction of piping in many different industries. When purchasing pipe fittings, consider the application, as this will affect material type, shape, size and required durability. Fittings are available threaded or unthreaded, in many shapes, styles, sizes, and schedules (pipe wall thickness). Anvil International provides pipe products and design services. I am making a stand up desk with a galvanized pipe frame. After having originally purchased pipe fittings at Lowes and then returning them I ended up purchasing these Anvil pipe fittings. There is a drastic difference between these and the pipe fittings at Home Depot or Lowes. The Chinese made piece of crap pipe fittings purchased at Home Depot or Lowes come very greasy and after properly cleaning has the tendency to rust. In comparison, the pipe fittings purchased from Anvil are noticeably higher quality and are so clean that you could lick them. Trust me, I was so excited when I received them and noticed the quality that I did (do not try this at home). It’s a pipe nipple that you could find at your local plumbing supply outfit. I just didn’t want to drive 70 miles to get one item with the cost of fuel.

It is truly difficult to say much about a steel pipe fitting nipple, but here goes: It looks like it will work exactly as it was designed and planned to work, as well as for my needs. Additionally, delivery was timely and product is exactly as advertised/ordered under Amazon Prime. Perfection!

These are premium fittings with correctly machined threads, and are clean and ready to install. The imported fittings from the box stores often have short threads (less thread engagement) and are packaged in "mystery" oil. The cost difference is negligible - go for Anvil.
