  • Safe, practical, and surprisingly powerful solar charging backpack!
I bought this backpack for frequent business trips, and it’s exceeded expectations. The anti-theft locks and hidden zippers give me real peace of mind when traveling through crowded airports, and it meets airline carry-on requirements without any hassle. The waterproof build also handled a rainy day commute without anything inside getting wet. Functionality is excellent—there’s plenty of space with organized compartments, and the padded laptop sleeve easily fits my 16-inch device. The luggage strap is super convenient, and the ergonomic back padding makes it comfortable to wear even when fully packed. The solar panel is a unique bonus. Outdoors, it charges my phone reliably when the sun is strong, and the built-in junction box with dual ports means I can charge multiple devices at once. Indoors it’s not as powerful, but that’s expected. The indicator light makes it easy to know when it’s working. Overall, the backpack feels sturdy, functional, and well thought out. For the amount of storage, comfort, and the added charging features, I’d say it’s excellent value for money. Perfect for travel, work, or even daily use. ... show more

  • Decent solar panel integrated into a decent looking bag
I tested the actual power output, and was getting 6-7 watts in fairly optimal conditions (eg using a multimeter to check the power charging a phone showed it was running at about 4.8V 1.4A). I think that's pretty good for a panel that size; real-world power is always lower than panel specs which assume perfect conditions and optimal load. Don't expect to get a constant 6W in regular use though - that will be reduced considerably by wearing the pack as a pack instead of setting it up to face the sun like a solar array, and will be reduced further still if the panel is in the sun long enough to get very hot. (The plastic surface is somewhat insulating so it doesn't stay as cool as heavier panels, which lowers cell efficiency). Those problems are just the nature of portable solar so the name of the game is a large panel and/or efficient cells. This pack does both; a large panel (for a backpack) made of efficient cells, so while it won't be the power you want, it should be about as good as it gets from something like this. For practical results in real-world conditions, you would put a small battery power-bank in the bag, so the powerbank will fast-charge your phone or other device quickly whenever you need it, night and day, while the solar power gradually charges the powerbank back up all through the day and keeps it topped up. The bag appears to be designed for exactly this, with the USB power output inside a zippered pocket the right size to hold a powerbank, and a USB extension cable in the same pocket to plug into the power-bank to feed its output to the exterior charging ports. However if you want you can just plug the USB extension cable directly into the solar output and have direct solar at the exterior ports. I really recommend against that though - it dooms the solar to being a novelty you use once or twice instead of a practical and useful device that always has fast charging available. Tip: I think the best kind of powerbank for this would be one with LiFePO4 (aka LFP) batteries, because they are much better suited to solar charging than regular lithium-ion batteries. (They degrade far slower, they aren't harmed by leaving them at maximum charge for long periods, they can take far more charge cycles, thermal cycles, etc). Caution: To maximize solar power, the solar cells are silicon, which is not the flexible type of solar cell. This means they may have a *little* bit of flex but will crack if bent. The bag has some kind of lightweight rigid backing on the panel to try to protect it from bending, but I suggest never overstuffing this bag to avoid bending the panel and risking cracking. Solar output will drop to nearly nothing if a single cell is broken, and the panel is permanently stitched into the bag; there is no way to access it for repair or replacement without either thread ripping, or cutting fabric, or separating the glue attaching the exterior panel cover to the hardshell. Hopefully this will be fixed in future versions. The extension cable to the exterior ports was not plugged into the solar-output internal ports when the bag arrived (because that's an optional configuration) and so at first I thought the bag didn't work; I plugged into the exterior ports and got no power, because I hadn't plugged those ports into the solar panel. Oops. The solar panel is made of 18 cells (3 columns of 6), I haven't been able to open it to see the electronics but I think all cells are in series. The bag seems decently made and I think it looks good, even though almost all the cost of it will have gone into the electronics. The laptop pocket will fit a 9.5"-wide laptop if it's slim, probably more like 9", and the main body of the bag will fit a 12"-wide laptop. ... show more

  • Functional solar charging capability.
Quality laptop bag and reliable - keeps anker power block topped up. Removing one star - barely fits a 16inch gaming laptop. Charging ports work as noted and has plenty of storage pockets.

  • Perfect for travel and work
This backpack has quickly become my favorite travel bag. The anti-theft zippers and TSA lock give me peace of mind when I am moving through airports. It fits under the seat or in the overhead bin with no problem and has enough room for my 16-inch laptop plus clothes and other essentials. The solar charging feature is a game changer, especially during long outdoor trips, since I can keep my phone charged without looking for an outlet. The back support and padded straps make it very comfortable to carry even when full. Stylish, safe, and functional, highly recommend it. ... show more

  • Keep looking
Unfortunately, the charging feature simply did not work despite numerous tests. My phones and batteries did not detect any charge in every environment tested, including direct sunlight. Also, the side pockets are not large enough to hold a water bottle. The materials and stitching felt very inexpensive. Returned, sadly. The search continues ... ... show more

  • Mine didnt work :
This is a neat backpack it has a lot of space in, it holds my laptop nicely and has a slot for a tablet or extra monitor. I like the look of it as well it, it does look like a hard suit case and doesn't really stand out too much for the office. For school not so much. However the biggest selling point, being able to charge with the solar panels does not work for me. I may have gotten a defective product but that was a bummer. It looks nice with the multiple different charging interfaces, having a port on the outside and a port on the inside as well a cable to charge with. But none of them worked. No matter if I used the external or interior ports or cable, nothing was getting a charge. The light on the solar panels was lighting up blue when in the sun light but nothing received a charge. That was the biggest disappointment so I don't know how likely that is but be aware of that gamble ... show more
