I bought the black 31” antenna to replace the 35” silver one that came on my new 2019 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. I really didn’t like the look of the factory silver one since my JL is Granite Crystal Metallic and it primarily has exterior trim parts that are black - not silver. The black 31” antenna is 4” shorter than than silver factory one. As you can see in my photos, the black 31” antenna still goes slightly above the roof line (level on the hardtop is there simply as a reference point for before and after). I also included a photo that shows how it looks at the connection point. It came with the needed male thread on the black 31” antenna and it was a very quick uninstall of the old one and install of the new one. I used a 3/8” open-end wrench to remove the silver factory antenna and I used an adjustable wrench to install the new one - new antenna could not be installed with the same 3/8” open-end wrench because it’s a different size. I temporarily put blue painters tape around the bottom of the black antenna mast during the installation of the black 31” antenna to prevent any scratching and it worked well. I checked several local HD radio stations both before and after and I didn’t notice any signal loss. It seems like the signal strength was exactly the same but I get the benefit of the black antenna which matches my Jeep trim color so much better. Extremely happy with this purchase. This is what Jeep should install at the factory rather than the silver antenna. Update 1/14/20: I’ve been using this antenna for several months now and I’ve experienced zero signal loss with HD and non-HD for any of my local radio stations.     • excellent replacement for the stock Wrangler JL antenna

I installed on my 18 Wrangler jl with the 8.4" uConnect system. I 1st tuned to a station 70 miles away with the stock antenna. The station came In with a little bit of static. I then Installed this 17" rubber antenna and checked the same station. It had about the same amount of static as with the stock antenna. So it appears to work just as good as the original antenna on distant stations. Local stations come in perfect. I've ran it thru an automatic carwash several times with no issues. The spring steel core makes it stiff enough it doesn't flop around while driving like a lot of 12"+ rubber antennas do. ... show more

I bought this antenna because the reception was guaranteed. Antenna does not work! Wrote the vendor asking for help or recommendation. No response! I live at the beach and most radio stations are 40+ miles away. Factory antenna picked up numerous stations, this stubby picked up one. Should read "Guaranteed if you live in the city". Don't waste your money if you are planning on using this any distance from the city. I had a stubby on my last JK and while it looked great it didn't get very good radio reception. This time I wanted something that looked near OEM but was still actually a functional antenna. I bought the 27" model and it looks great and no signal difference from the OEM on local AM/FM. It just blends in with the Jeep for a clean look, doesn't stand out like a bullet etc.. I actually didn't even notice it walking out to my Jeep the next day which is exactly what I want in an antenna, I don't want my antenna to be a focal point on the jeep. The first order I placed was lost in somewhere in Texas, still there apparently.. Nearly a month later tracking says "running late". I placed a second order and it arrived in 3 days. ... show more

I never would have believed it. But, there is a rubber antenna that you have to remove before you go through a car wash. I was stunned when I read that in the instructions. (It's not mentioned in the listing.) What's the point of getting a rubber antenna, if it won't hold up better than the stock one, in abusive situations like going through heavy brush or A CAR WASH! Kind of defeats the purpose. Don't you think? So, I got this one from AntennaMastsRus. This is what a 'tactical' antenna is supposed to be. It's well built, using top quality materials. It has a flexible metal mast that is jacketed with heavy rubber and is designed to withstand being flexed by heavy brush and spring back to normal, every time. It installs very easily and does a great job. I'm still able to pick up all of the AM and FM stations that are important to me. I honestly use SIRIUSXM more than FM. So I do not normally listen to AM/FM radio, so reception is not a deciding factor for me with shorty antennas. The stock antenna on my Jeep Gladiator is bare metal and whips around when on the freeway. Not a huge problem, but out of the corner of my eye I'd see it and it was a little distracting. I got this smaller, black (ish) antenna that can barely be seen out the front windshield. Install was easy, a 10mm wrench to remove the old, then twist on the new. The ONLY gripe I have is its a slightly lighter shade of black, so it doesn't match the base, but neither did the stock one, so, eh... ... show more

    • Didn't survive one car wash

Installed this antenna and went through the car wash a few days later. Came out the other end and the antenna was gone. I contacted the seller to let them know that this was not "car wash proof" and I was asked to send a picture of the antenna. Since the antenna was lost to the car wash, I sent a picture of where the antenna had been mounted. They told me that car wash proof simply meant it would not break in the car wash. They concluded from the photo that mine unscrewed, therefore it must have been installed incorrectly. To be clear, this installs by screwing in to the mount. That's it. Kind of hard to mess that up, right? They said that I should have used Loctite, which was not mentioned in the instructions. So please be advised that, at least in my case, the "car wash proof" antenna is not car wash proof. Disappointing, because I liked the look of it! ... show more
