Ordered April 21, 2020, finally received June 17, 2020 (almost 2 months after purchase), though I believe this is NOT the fault of Amazon, as the hardcover copy I pre-ordered in March 2020 through my local Gamestop still has not arrived to the store for pickup. Once the guide was finally shipped, it arrived VERY quickly, literally next day. It was delivered through UPS & after 7pm I started to worry that it would go back to UPS & delivery delayed until the next day, as I've experienced numerous times with UPS, but they actually delivered it around 9pm, which I was very pleasantly surprised by! Though I've had previous negative experiences with UPS as a delivering service, I can say this experience was 100% positive, thanks to the amazing driver delivering packages in this area. Back to the book; It arrived sealed in plastic(can be seen in image I uploaded with my review), even though it is a paperback copy, it still has a beautiful book sleeve with a bright image/artwork from the game, that continues onto the back cover of the book sleeve. It's VERY heavy, 4lbs of AC goodness! (it makes me wonder how much the hardcover book weighs, lol) The actual cover has a different image/artwork, it is a 2 toned blue background with pale blue/white wave design, made to look like water, with what *looks* like a polaroid picture, one on the front cover, a different one on the back cover, under the sleeve. The artwork & images inside are just as vibrant & beautiful, & the quality of this guide is amazing! I haven't gotten to read it cover to cover, yet, since it only just arrived, but flipping through I saw sections of the villagers with their pictures & all information about them. It shows all items/clothing obtainable, including color variants. & so far it appears to have literally everything you'd want & expect from an official companion guide, though I will update this review if any of my review changes after reading the guide in its entirety, but at first glance it appears to be just as useful as any other, as well as previous AC, companion guides. The overall quality of the book is great in my opinion, it's a HUGE guide, with tons if information, beautiful images/artwork, & a great companion to have as you play, as well as a beautiful collection item to add to my AC collection. I hope this information can be of use to someone looking to purchase this guide- but seriously, if you want it, I'd DEFINITELY recommend purchasing it sooner rather than later, since all AC merchandise becomes 'rare' pretty quickly & prices increase at an astounding rate (*I purchased the guide almost 2 months ago exactly for a few dollars less than what the SAME listing has it listed as now.*) All in all I'm very happy with the guides quality, & hoping the information inside will be of the same quality. Also, just for the record, I purchased this guide with my own personal money, & the reviews/opinions I post are 100% my own. This guide is gorgeous, and I'm so glad I preordered it! I order it back in February and just received it yesterday (May 20th). Shipping took a long time, but this isn't the seller's/distributors fault. There is a pandemic going around causing delays with both printing and shipping, and this isn't really something that can be easily worked around, so for people leaving bad reviews about the PRODUCT based on the state of shipping and printing, be patient and humble yourself. There are much bigger issues going on with the world than you getting your video game book, and you sound like petulant children! As for the guide itself, it's absolutely gorgeous, and VERY comprehensive. It's a paperback but it's very sturdy, heavy, and feels good in your hands. I was for sure that by now I knew everything the game had to offer, but there is actually a lot of information in this guide that I didn't know about. It covers everything you can think of, in detail, from full hybrid flower charts, stats and probability for things like when the campsite will get a new visitor, full list of all items, clothing, accessories, etc. (carefully organized and all include clear pictures of each item), terraforming best practices such as how to properly set inclines, to a full list of all optional villagers and pictures of what their starter homes look like. I've had this book preordered since I was able to and it exceeds my expectations. I've spent the last hour looking through it and have already learned quite a lot. I appreciate the detailed flower breeding guides, along with the fishing/bugging guides. I didn't know that some bugs and fish don't "unlock" until I've already caught a set number of bugs/fish. I bought this book mainly so I can keep track of what I've bought at Nook's and Able Sisters. I am floored by how many clothing items there are! I'll have to stop buying items in every color option, because I'm going to run out of storage space very quickly. This guide also shows which clothes only appear in certain seasons. I love that the guide shows what each villager's house looks like inside, including their original catchphrases. There's also very helpful information about Happy Home Academy rankings, score bonuses, lucky furniture, and Feng-shui (20 pages worth of info!). And I can't wait to read the pages about reaching a 5-star island. This is a terrific companion guide and I highly recommend it. It's a shame there are so many impatient people that have given the book a negative review because the shipping was delayed. Have they forgotten we're in the middle of a pandemic? ... show more

    • High Quality, Fantastic Resource!

Whilst this book now as of July 2020 is outdated given it was release prior to some crucial updates such as Sea Creatures being added; It is still a great resource to have on hand. It is 430 pages of pure detail. Its especially great for introductory to the game itself if you have little to no history with Animal Crossing as a franchise. Listing a basic overview on how to play the game and items as well as prices and various tidbits of information but even to the seasoned players is a great resource to have at your disposal. Many have reported getting bad copies with severe damage to a wide number of pages; however my copy did not have these flaws, and I imagine that batch has been distributed and is no more by this point. Many also complain of constant delays but mine came in a matter of a few days. Again I think this was a “at release” issue back when it was a preorder item. The book is a decent weight, and the stock for the paper is thick and feels very high end, no cheap feeling flimsy paper found here folks. Mine came holding a heavy chemical scent but after unwrapping it from the protective shrink film and letting it sit for a few hours the smell is now gone. You can tell that a lot of pride effort and thought went into the making of this guide and I cannot recommend it enough. If you have Animal Crossing New Horizons, you need this guide; Period. ... show more

    • Great Tool for the Animal Crossing Fan - But Already Needs an Update

I wanted a guide to track my items and this more than fit the bill! It’s a textbook sized encyclopedia of everything in the game, and the quality is outstanding with a nice dust jacket and beautiful photos. And it’s perfect for collectors: it’s stuffed with lists for everything and very organized. It’s easy to find what you’re looking for with the frequent references to other related parts of the book (for example, the seasons page tells you where you can find the seasonal DIYs). As someone who’s played 500+ hours on Animal Crossing: New Horizons, I wasn’t sure exactly how much NEW material I’d learn from it, but I found many helpful tricks and new pieces of info that I didn’t know about, like an extremely detailed TV channel guide, turnip price patterns, how to boost the rating of your home, and the game’s weather patterns! The only negative thing about this book is that it’s already outdated at only 6 months old. There’s no info on holidays or their crafts/items, but seasonal crafts are included. Newer characters are missing (no Leif, Pascal or Gullivarrr), and most importantly, no Jolly Redd or his artwork! I was really hoping for some info on how to spot fake art, but I guess I’ll have to stick to using other guides for that for now. I don’t regret my purchase - for the price it’s well worth it. But I am looking forward to a second edition! ... show more

It’s absolutely wonderful! There’s so many details about the game I didn’t even know about and I’ve had many many hours clocked into the game already! I will say it did take a long time to arrive, which is sad because it would’ve been nice to have it at launch, but oh well. One thing that annoys me so much though is when it talks about the personalities. There is a section we’re you can see every animal in the game that could live on your island, and it describes where each gender has 4 personality types. For the females, it mentioned there’s a sweet type for females, but I couldn’t find it among the animals anywhere! In the back it shows pictures of all the posters you can receive from them, organized by personality. So I checked every sweet personality type, and they’re all labeled as “normal.” This almost makes me angry because I thought that both male and female animals could be normal, but the only ones that were labeled as normal were the sweet ones. I hope I’m not the only one with this kind of error, but if I’m not then beware. Other than that mildly annoying flaw, it’s an absolutely wonderful tool! It even tells you how to get certain DIY’s which I know for everyone is a pain in the butt. It’s honestly the greatest thing I bought this year. ... show more
