Our Bermuda grass has been having a tough time thriving in our yard. The soil is so compacted that it doesn't absorb water very well, even with our lawn service using a liquid aerator to help. We haven't seen much improvement, so I decided to take matters into my own hands and try using a manual aerator to punch holes in the ground. My hope is that this will allow water and nutrients to penetrate deeper into the soil and reach the grass roots more effectively. The aerator I purchased arrived fully disassembled in a compact package. To my surprise, putting it together was a breeze and took me only about 5 minutes without even needing to consult the instructions. Once assembled, the tool is surprisingly lightweight, with sturdy metal construction. The only parts that have a bit of heft are the metal base plate and the spikes themselves. The handles are padded with thick foam, making it comfortable to grip and use. Not attaching the base plate lets you install just 5 of the spikes, though I'm not really sure what that would be useful for. What really impressed me was how easy it was to aerate the lawn with this tool. I simply placed it on the ground and pressed down with one foot, and the spikes easily penetrated the soil, especially when it was slightly damp. The height of the tool is perfect for me, allowing me to use it without bending over or straining to apply pressure. The included cleaning tool is also lightweight, and quite handy. Over the next few days, I plan to thoroughly aerate the entire backyard using this tool. I'm optimistic that this will help our struggling Bermuda grass to grow more vigorously. Only time will tell, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a lusher, healthier lawn!

Got this for our yard. Pros: -Fairly easy to assemble. Comes with all necessary parts and tools. It includes a couple extra parts in case of loss or defect. -Pretty sturdy if assembled correctly. -Padded handle is nice touch, as it is a tedious process to aerate the yard, so padding is a need! -Pretty good base so you cover more area with less steps Cons: -Could be a little easier to assemble. Putting it all together does take some time and effort. -Left it outside one day and there is slight signs of rust (as can be seen in the picture). I shouldn't have left it out, but it shouldn't be showing rust after one time getting wet. In general, aerating the yard with this (or similar products) is very tedious and a LONG process. You must make sure the ground is wet or it can be ridiculously difficult and exhausting to do this. However, in the ideal situation, this is a decent product for doing the work with.

The aerator was easy to assemble. Even with putting a couple bolts in backwards, it took less than 15 minutes for complete assembly. It's easy to use, however my lawn has very hard compacted dirt. I could only get the spikes to go in about an inch. I expected it to sink the full 2 inches. I don't know if it's the design or my lawn. This seems sturdy enough to last for the entire lawn.

I really thought this was going to be a nightmare to put together. It was actually extremely simple. Every individual piece was separate, but the included tools were excellent. Those that said it takes five minutes to put together weren’t exaggerating. It’s quite heavy duty, yet relatively lightweight. I’m 5’10”, and it’s just about the perfect size for me to use. I haven’t used it yet, but I can’t wait to get out in the yard and aerate my hard compact of soil and see what difference this makes. I’m very pleased with the quality of the product.

I got this to use for my backyard, we have many bald patches from so much construction. This was easy to assemble (according to my husband) and easy to use (according to me ;-) It easily goes into the soil, the soil I was puncturing was very dry and hard, I just set it on there and stepped down on it. I made thousands of holes and my husband put the grass seed down, then we covered it with light fence pieces to keep the dogs off of it. I am so glad we got this.

This aerator works perfectly! It does arrive disassembled in many pieces. Fortunately, assembly is really straight forward and simple to figure out. It took me like 5 minutes to build this aerator with all 15 spikes. I can appreciate that the aerator can be used with either 15 spikes or 5 (which is convenient for smaller specific/targeted area). The aerator is super simple to use and doesn't require a ton of weight to use. I love the cushion padded handles which makes this aerator more comfortable to use. For tough hard soil the aerator has a wide enough area that I can use my foot to step on the aerator to ensure it creates enough of a pocket in the soil to be effective for healthier grass roots that are effectively nourished. The aerator also didn't damage or rip up our freshly planted yard during use!! The aerator feels really heavy duty and durable without being excessively heavy. We have a smaller yard that has just been landscaped and this aerator works perfectly for us and our space. Would absolutely recommend it!!

First I will say, if you order this and it doesn't arrive damaged, it will probably work great. It feels like it's very heavy duty and durable. It's also super easy to put together. However, one of the bars that connects in the middle section arrived very badly bent. The packaging itself wasn't damaged at all, which tells me it was damaged before being packed and sent off. So the manufacturer has a serious quality assurance issue that could mean anyone will end up with damage that makes it unusable. Since mine was sent as a review item I didn't pay for, I'm not bothering trying to get it exchanged. I was still able to put it together, it's just a little lopsided missing one of the center bars. So I can't say how long it will actually last in that state. So beware, with the manufacturer allowing such heavily defunct items to be shipped out, it will be a gamble ordering from them.
