  • Great Book
Very well written and easy to follow. A really nice book to learn about android phones. Also well illustrated.

  • Written Well
The book is written well. As far as I can tell the only thing that makes this a "senior" book is that it used larger font than other Dummy books. Not all seniors need larger font.

  • Doesn't begin at the beginning.
If the following text makes sense to you (it doesn't make sense to me)--in chapter 4, before the terms "swiping", "home screen", etc. have been defined--then this might be the book for you (it's not the book for me): "... You can also find Settings by tapping the Settings app icon on the App Drawer screen(s) you access by swiping upward on the Home screen..." Unfortunately, this book neither prepares you to use Android phones in general, nor any given Android phone in particular. In other words, without describing how Android phones work, in general, it attempts to get into the details of how to operate your Android phone, in particular. But of course, it can't really get into those details, because, as it describes, those details differ, depending upon which Android phone you're using. Unfortunately, I don't have a good book to recommend on this subject, because this is the first recently-published book I've tried to learn from. I'd have to give even worse warnings regarding several out-of-date books that are still listed for sale online (hint: check the publication date). I suppose my next attempt to learn about a smartphone should be a recently-published book that describes how to use a particular smartphone--even though I don't know enough to make an informed choice of a particular smartphone. Yes, I'm a "senior", and yes, I don't know much about smartphones. But also yes, I'm generally a good learner, but this book didn't help me at all. ... show more

  • Reasonably Good Beginner Reference
We got this book to help understand the operations of my wife's Android phone. It has been relatively useful so far. Only complaint is that you have to skip around to find stuff. And the index is not well done - hard to find a reference for some issue.

  • simplicity
Not as technical as author, and not using phone for complex issues. Only using phone primarily as a phone, and not as computer type device. Book is fine, I just am not as technical as some readers would be.
