My only gripe is that sometimes the cuts on the sides of mute are not going all the way through to the holes and make installation challenging and the little lip which hooks on the bridge is not prominent enough.

These work great, you can adjust tone over a wide range with small nudges, slide it down toward the tail when not in use, and works way better than the big comb-shaped things that go over the whole bridge.     • My violin bridge flew off!
I've been playing violin for many years, and this was the first time I had a mute that was too thick and difficult to put on the bridge. During rehearsal, as I slid the mute on, I had to press down hard for it to engage because the lip is so small, as a result, my bridge flew off the violin! It was a disaster and I had to pick up the bridge from the floor, reinstall it on the violin and retune. I returned these. Too thick! ... show more

I bought these mutes because mutes just tend to fall of my violin. Since there are no music stores near my university, amazon was the alternative. When I took the item out of its package, its actually just a tad stiff and a tad thick for my liking but you do get what you pay for so I'm not all disappointed or upset. If you're in a pickle and you need some mutes for back ups and dont mind having then be a little stiff or a tad thick them I suppose I would recommend these. ... show more

    • Don't fit well!!
Bought these for my viola, and not surprising at all they don't go over the bridge easily at all. I popped my bridge out of place the first time I tried to get this mute on and even since being more careful I have to manually pull back the mute to get it over the bridge instead of sliding it on. Viola mutes have been hard to find so I guess I'll keep looking elsewhere. ... show more

The mutes are a little too thick to even put on a violin bridge so I had to cut a bit of the width to get it to fit. It doesn’t mute sound as much as other mutes but to be fair they are cheaper than most other mutes.
