    • Beautiful, Well-Made Chess Set That My Kids Couldn’t Put Down
Fantastic chess set! It looks much more expensive than it is, with quality felt details and a board that folds up for easy storage. The magnets are just strong enough to keep the pieces in place when moving the board without making them difficult to play with. My kids played with it all weekend and loved it. Beautiful set, great price, and highly recommend! ... show more

    • Looks Great on the Coffee Table — And My Kids Actually Play More Chess!

This chess set has been a great addition to our house. The first thing I noticed was how nice it looks. The wood has a good quality feel to it, and the set looks nice enough that I’ve been leaving it out on our coffee table rather than putting it away after each game. That has actually ended up being one of my favorite things about it. Since it’s sitting out and ready to play, I’ve noticed my kids playing chess a lot more than they did before. They’ll just sit down and start a game, which I love. The magnetic pieces are another big plus and have been a huge hit with everyone. The magnets are strong enough to keep the pieces from sliding around if the board gets bumped, but you can still move them easily during a game. I also really like the storage design. Each piece has its own spot inside the folding board, so it’s easy to keep everything together and see right away if a piece is missing. The extra queens are a thoughtful addition too. Overall, this is a really nice combination of looks, quality, and practicality. It works well as a family chess set, and the fact that it looks good sitting out means ours is getting much more use than I expected. ... show more

    • Good quality
I got this chess set for my 11-year-old who’s really into chess, and honestly, it’s been a great buy. The quality is solid, and the magnetic board is super handy—pieces stay in place even if the board gets nudged, which is awesome during car rides or just moving it around. It’s also really lightweight and easy to throw in a backpack, so it’s perfect for taking on the go—whether it’s to school, a friend’s house, or while traveling. Overall, we’re both really happy with it. Great set for kids or anyone who wants something portable but still well-made ... show more

    • I’m a little on the fence with this product, but overall I liked it
Let me start off by saying this is definitely a great chess set for beginners, nothing too great but nothing too shabby either. I have more good things to say about this product than bad, and I must say I was quite impressed upon my unboxing of this item; it had a very nice initial appeal to it that really catches the eye. I really liked the magnetism feature and how well calibrated it is; not too strong or too weak. All though I did notice that while playing in a moving vehicle the taller chess pieces like the queen or king would tend to wobble sometimes; mainly the king. The wooden chess pieces and wooden board are well crafted but that doesn’t go without a few imperfections I noticed. I’m not sure if these pieces are genuinely handcrafted or not because I received one of my white pawns already marred with part of it bulbous head ground down too much on one side making it look more awkward than its counterparts. Not only that but the hinge construction of the folding board was not symmetrically evened out so the board does not lay completely flat even when placed on a table or other flat surface. I must also mention that some of the velvet pads affixed to the bottom of the chess pieces were not properly glued all the way and right away began to peel off exposing the inner magnet. With all that being said I can conclude that while this is an excellent chess set for beginners and there plenty of things to like about it, don’t expect perfection. It is made in China after all. What also bummed me out was the fact that the product price dropped a little only a couple days after my purchase close to Christmas time. All in all I am just as impressed as I am disappointed. ... show more

Very nice set! Bought more than year ago, use it a lot but it still looks perfect! Magnets work fine, and storage for pieces is very comfortable to use!

    • Love it.
We got this set on sale for $25. It would definitely be worth more than that. The set is easily portable, has a great set up for clean up, has good sized pieces, all the pieces plus an extra queen, and comes with instructions. If you’re interested in a starter chess set to see if your family likes the game enough to put money into a really fancy custom set, then this is for you. ... show more
