I think very highly of this unit. But know what you are getting in to if you choose to build this yourself. If my description is scary, find a reliable Handyman/woman to build it for you. This is not a simple furniture-in-a-box undertaking. You need to be patient enough to sort all your parts, and work through 20+ pages of "instructions" with very careful attention to detail. You need to expect it will take several hours to build. (Yes, really.) And you need to be insightful and intuitive enough to follow instructions that have NO WORDS. The "Assembly Instructions" are 20+ pages of crystal clear diagrams of how to assemble generally 2 to 4 pieces of the unit at a time. Even though the parts and hardware are clearly labelled, it is a real challenge to figure out which surface is up or which edge faces forward when the only clue is to carefully study the size and location of pre-drilled holes in the piece in question. Even with my experience and care, I had two sub-assemblies I had to dismantle when I tried to join them because I had gotten two pieces reversed in earlier steps. Now, lest you think this is all tortuous labor, the good news is that every piece of wood and metal is labeled with a letter, and every bag of screws and parts are labeled with a number. They have already broken down the parts bags into 20+ different bags associated with various stages of assembly. You use no glue at all, so all steps are reversible. The engineering of the build, and the machining of the parts are precise. A huge relief when you are joining heavy pieces or subassemblies that require aligning a half dozen cam screws. They all fit perfectly. One of the main reasons this is such a difficult or complex build is that achieving this high level of strength in a piece of furniture designed to look light and modern requires a lot of over-lapping pieces. Assembling these type of overlapping top and bottom pieces to a center shelf means precisely following the order of insertion of screws and hardware so that all fasteners can be installed at the correct time in the correct way. What you wind up with is a 90 pound behemoth that LOOKS relatively sleek and minimalist. The central spine of this unit is a strong sparse box design that provides substantial strength to the shelves, and the strength of an I-beam to the TV mount. A couple of points of clarification from other reviews. 1) This unit does not need to be ATTACHED to a wall, but it must be placed with it's back against a wall ("at least as tall as the television" in the instructions). So it can't be free-standing. But the large, front-biased base makes it very safe from the front, so long as the back is in contact with a wall. 2) The TV mount is full strength steel, but minimal - a fixed cross beam, and dual position fixed hangars to mount to the TV - which allow you to simply hang the TV on the crossbar. No reaching around behind the TV to drive screws. There are no hinges or gimbals - no way to tilt or steer the TV. I have not investigated it myself, but I suspect the cross-beam is strong enough that you mights be able to attach a more active mounting gimbal between your TV and this unit's cross beam to gain that flexibility. I leave that to you as a separate exercise. So, "A" as a piece of furniture; slightly above average hand tool skills; and super-human spacial relationship skills for envisioning the correct parts and correct orientation of the parts from a booklet of line drawings.

I bought the 70" stand. It is exactly as photographed once assembled. Assembly was a bit time consuming due to many steps and pieces, but things were labeled quite well which made it much easier. It's quite sturdy, I feel confident putting my 68" flatscreen on it. There are ways to customize the height, and the way the mount apparatus works, it should fit with many TV mount styles. The mount kit included screws of 2 different widths, and there were 2 different length options so 4 screw sets all together. The mount works by attaching the vertical bars to the back of your TV, then you use the "hook-part" of those vertical bars to hang the TV on the horizontal rectangle bar. I was able to assemble and mount my TV by myself. I'm a petite lady, so I would say this is a project many could complete on their own so long as they follow the instructions. The stand does not need to be mounted to a wall. It is recommended for stability. The piece is stable on its own, but with small children it may be a good idea to fix the piece to the wall. I also secured the TV to the mount rectangle using the extra screws for other TV sizes and some washers I had at home just to be on the cautious side. The TV did not seem to slide easily, but I wanted the TV to be locked on the mount rather than in a position that could be slid off if someone were to fall or put weight on the TV. There are 3 sizes of stands, so the reviews were very confusing. There is no glass on this stand. There are two drawers on the bottom. It comfortably fits my 68" screen TV and would likely fit a 70" TV. The stand says it's max weight is 100lbs. It was so sturdy, so It seems this may be a conservative estimate, but with a larger TV that was likely expensive, I wouldn't recommend pushing that limit. It is still particle board and self-assembled.

was getting tired of my very old and impractical tv stand. i wanted a cleaner and fresher look. Family member recently ordered the 70 inch stand (the model up from this with a drawer) i was impressed on how heavy the box was. there was NO way i was going to a furniture store and paying 300 to 700 dollars for a stand like this. i paid about 62.00 for this with tax and free shipping thanks to amazon prime. it arrived in about a week, i didn't really need it fast so i chose the slow delivery option. have seen numerous complaints about boxes being damaged during shipping. mine had a slight tear in the box, but all parts remained intact and didn't get damaged. this can be a time consuming project. the instructions suggested 2 people for proper assembly. I was able, however to get it together all by myself. the instructions leave a lot to be desired, but if your good with visuals, and take your time you shouldn't run into too many snags I would like to point out what issues i ran into. 1. when mounting the bottom piece to the stand, you have to FIRST put in 4 barrel nuts. i simply pushed them in with my fingers. they are phillips head and MUST align properly in the holes, because they are secured with bolts that must be secured with a included allen wrench. (for the life of me, i don't know why companies insist on using this POS type of bolt). make sure you have LOTS OF LIGHT to see down into the hole. if they aren't PERFECTLY centered in the holes (the barrell nuts) the bottom piece wont secure to the frame. (a light you wear around your head would be useful if you have one.). 2. the shorter the screwdriver you have, the BETTER. there are some tight spots that are difficult to get to. 3, the tv mount secures to the frame using washers, and you guessed it, allen wrench bolts. per the instrructions i assembled everything and the tiny nuts that secure the mount to the frame on the back were a BEAR to get on. they are short threaded and were difficult. after about 20 or 30 minutes and getting no where, i went to my local hardware store and bought spin on wing nuts. Problem solved. only cost $1.50. 4. you must screw the rails into the back of your TV. you may find that the bolts you need ARE NOT INCLUDED. the instructions clearly indicate this. so go online and search for your tv make and model number to get the correct size scews. if the holes are recessed, you must use the included spacers. luckily, the bolts i needed for my 39" insignia TV were included. the included glass shelf easily holds my DVD player and directv receiver. there is small plastic screw that you must tighten below the glass shelf. seems very sturdy and per the instructions, can hold 10 pounds. all the screws, bolts, and fasterns are labled by numbers. do each step in order. and take your time. You should be able to assemble this in 2 to 3 hours. it feels sturdy and looks good in my living room. don't even try to secure the mount to the back of the stand without wing nuts. it's too tight and the included nuts don't spin on very well. other than that, and the poorly written instructions, i'm pretty happy with this stand.
