I had a gap between the interior portion of the heat pump and the base it was mounted on. So I purchased this roll of flashing to fill that gap. I needed about 2” to do that, so since I didn’t have a sheet metal brake, I used the edge of my computer desk and a bit of wood I had to bend the flashing down the middle. The thin metal was easy to make a square corner with my less crude tools. I cleaned the surface with alcohol to make sure it was suitable for taping. The worst part of that was getting the label off which was scored to make it hard to remove in one piece. When I was shopping for this, it puzzled me for a while about the size. But the size given was the size of the roll, not the flashing unrolled. It is 4” wide and 10 ft long. Once you remove the band around the roll, it wants to unfurl, so be prepared with something to hold the rest of the roll closed. I used two clothespins initially.     • Worked or my outdoor DIY project
I had bought this flashing for my outdoor cement project making a stepping stone walkway. It was easy to curve, and hold into place using long nails. It didnt lose its shape, and heald my concrete nicely. Worked great for my DIY project.

    • It's a Long Sheet of Aluminum -- What Can Go Wrong...
Years ago, I needed to make an ultralight stove for a hiking friend, and this was perfect stock for that project. The aluminum was thick enough that my stove endured the rigors of one traverse of the Appalachian Trail -- almost 2200 miles! We were both very pleasantly surprised. And, there was enough to make a 2nd stove for a half-AT hike that also lasted for part of the Pacific Coast Trail. If well cared for, this aluminum is good quality stuff. And there may yet be enough for a 3rd stove... Gotta find that remnant flashing and bring out the tin snips again! ... show more

    • Perfect sized flashing for my application and this size wasn't available locally.
I had a new Package Unit Heat Pump installed recently and the bottom of it was different than my old unit and had a void where rodents could easily go under the heat pump and get under my house then ultimately (and I still don't know how) find their way in our pantry under our stairwell. I got the mice, but couldn't figure out how it got in. The only thing that was different was the new heat pump installed and the gap under it. So, I purchased this 4" flashing and screwed it in place to the bottom of my heat pump to the ground covering up any and all gaps that were present. It's nice and thin and also sturdy and the price was ok but it could be a tad cheaper. Not as wide as I wanted but it's hard finding flashing now a days.

    • What are you going to use this for?
Many will buy this for use in projects other than flashing so I'll describe the roll that I received. First, it's 3.88" wide, about .0085 thick, didn't measure the length. There is a coating on the aluminum that makes it non conductive. The aluminum has a hard temper, when formed there is a lot of spring back. The edges on my roll are very safe to handle. One edge has almost no burr, the other has a burr about .001 high but it doesn't feel sharp. The surface finish is not smooth but has a very fine grain. Most any scissors will cut this stuff easily but do not use your partners sewing shears. For anything. Ever. ... show more
