Poor imitation of the wyeth scott. The dogs that catch the ratchet teeth have a very poor alignment and only about half of the teeth align and grab. With grinding and some washers it might be improved but poor fit and finish for the price. Nothing "american" about this thing. I wish I bought the real one instead like I used to have. ... show more

Im pretty sure the negative reviews are mad competitors. This seems very similar to other products that I have used and it's good quality. Don't pay attention to disengenous angry mobs that are mad they paid more for the same thing...

    • Dangerous and cheaply made!
This product is not fit to be used on anything of any weight. The gears are made of either cast iron or some pot metal that will not hold up to any pressure. once one shears off the load will drop uncontrolled. This unit also has gaps too large on the sides of the spool and the cable will get wedged into the gap binding up the unit. The unit is cheaply made and dangerous if you are looking to use it under any kind of load. ... show more

Buyers beware of fake reviews!! This is an amazing heavy duty puller and has held up to everything I used it for. This is a super heavy duty puller and I'm sure will hold up for several years to come.

    • BEWARE: CHEAP CHINESE NOT MADE IN THE USA.
I purchased this puller because we have a heavier job than a standard come along should be used for. I was mislead by the name "American Power Pull". Nowhere on the Amazon listing does it say that this tool is actually made in China. When I opened the box, the room filled with the smell of low quality Chinese rubber like walking into a Harbor Freight store. Now that it has been delivered, I find small print on the box with a cheesy qualifier that says "Made in China, Tested in the USA". I had the tool expressed here because we have deadline and must have a piece of equipment moved by tomorrow. It looks like I will be the Tester mentioned in their hidden statement. I hope nobody gets hurt. I did give this two stars instead of one because it is much more heavy duty than a standard come along. It may do the job just fine or it may fail catastrophically while it is fully loaded. The odds of either look like it could be a crap-soot. With such a critical use tool, I was specifically looking for something made in the USA. As far cheap Chinese tooling goes, it is OK. I would consider raising the number of stars in this review if the seller would add a truthful statement about where it is manufactured. ... show more
