after significant research, I decided to go with these American floor mats for a basement gym and I'm incredibly happy I did. after measuring my rectanglular room, I ordered the package that best fit those dimensions with the intent of installing them on my own. I have no prior experience doing any type of install work of this kind, but I own a hammer and box cutters and figured I'd give it a shot. the floor arrived in 9 separate boxes of mats, which made it easy to get them into the house as each box contained only a few 2'x2' mats. cutting the mats was very easy with a box cutter. i found that about halfway through the install I needed to replace the blade to a new one as the rubber dulls the blade enough to make cutting more difficult over time. each cut required about 3 passes with the blade. mats fit together perfectly and do not budge. mine were placed directly on a concrete floor and they don't slide, bubble, or pull apart. I can't even see the seams. I used a combination of my hands, feet, and hammer to put the mats together. while hand and feet work, you'll want to use a hammer to get them perfectly flat. all in all, the project took 2 days. most of the time was spent cutting the perimeter mats for 2 lengths of wall. the middle mats only took me a few hours total. dropping weights on them does a great job muffling sound and protecting my weights. they clean up nicely with a swiffer, and there was no rubber smell before or after install. I ordered them in the blue color and I love the added flair. all in all, I couldn't be happier with this floor. I would order them again in a heartbeat.

These worked great for a small area needed it for. Making sure to write a review and thank the company, there was problem and it was fixed promptly. Will most likely order more in future when I have more of the room I can use. I put together right away so didnt air out and winter so couldn't open windows, smell lasted like 2weeks to a month. Wasn't as strong as new rubber plates smell that lasted 1-2yrs but had a pretty good smell to them. Just open door to room, let it circulate, smells totally gone now. (FYI, airing out in a pool room with uv beating in through glass then trapping the smell with no where to escape probably not best idea, from a review seen.) Moves lil opposite side of where weights are against wall on carpet, probably from pulling the bench in and out by that end, cut for vent helps stop it going further. Staying in place now and looks great.

Did not have to air out, the minimal odor wore off after 2 weeks. Cardboard boxes that they came in, were battered, somewhat to be expected. Installing the jigsaw tiles was easy, soft mallet hammer made it trivial. Maybe most importantly, the cuts are precise, and the seams are not visible without going on your knees and looking for them. The only minor complaint might be that they are a bit squeaky with weight lifting shoes.

American Floor Mats makes quality flooring. I needed some gym flooring in the basement and purchased this on 08/03/2021. I saw reviews not only on amazon but on gym forums and blogs saying that this flooring was worth the money. Yes, its on the more expensive side. Home Depot carries cheaper alternatives, but I wanted to invest in a long term solution. I placed a power rack ontop of it and I'm loving the flooring, its durable and protects my basement flooring. People are complaining about the "rubbery" smell, but honestly its not that bad... So... the not so good part of this purchase. Shipping... after going back and forth with American Flooring I finally received my shipment on 08/21/2021. If you know how UPS operates they allow sellers to "lock in" a "Z" tracking number. Its like a TBD number for the UPS system. My Z tracking was locked in same day but sat in "shipment has not been picked up check back tomorrow" for weeks. Moral of the story, if you have time on your hands and do not need the product right away, this is the flooring you want. Otherwise, i would just go pick some flooring up at home depot or lowes.

We've had these for several months now, and love them! We have a downstairs room that the previous owners likely used to lock-up their big dogs in when they had company over. The floor was just bare concrete, badly stained and with slightly oozing rust spots in a few places. We cleaned it up and use it as a storage room with shelves along the sides and bike storage along one wall. We considered several options for floor covering including pouring more concrete, but then stumbled on this rubber flooring. This brand is truly heavy duty, was easy to lay down...and if we ever have a serious moisture problem underneath, will be easy to disassemble with no damage to the tiles. It's a pleasure to walk on, buffers any dropped tools, etc. and while it had a slight rubber smell for the first several weeks, it was much less than we anticipated. Excellent product. The only negative aspect is that only 2x2 foot tiles are offered - which does not (obviously) fit every room. In our case we ordered the 8x12 kit but that was about a foot short on one side of the room. At the time (July 2019), adding individual tiles required relatively steep shipping charges (these tiles are heavy!!!), so eventhough we were willing to pay for extra end-tiles and cut half of them off, with shipping it just wasn't worth the extra money - we hid the uncompleted @10" behind the shelves. If they offered a 2x1 foot end/corner option, this system would be the best in rubber flooring.

So far i like it. I havent put them through abuse yet since i just installed them yet so its hard to say how they will handle it. I Will say they seem very good quality and heavy thick rubber. It seems to be commercial grade. You can barely see where the pieces joined together. I have seen comments of people saying the colors arent consistent with different shades. That made me hesitant to buy from here but took the gamble. They all look alike with the same color of gray. Has a very faint smell to them. I dont smell anything anymore now that its all assembled. People have commented about a strong chemical smell. I barely smelled it even putting my nose right up to it. I bought the 10×10 and im happy with it. I would recommend this product. Update: I have had this mat for close to two years approximately. It is still going strong and I couldn't be happier with it. I will be buying more of this if I make my gym area bigger at my house. The faint chemical smell no longer is there. Not that It was a problem anyway. I fully recommend this product. You can barely see where the mat connects to the other mat becasue of the design on the mat. Looks like one solid piece almost.
