I got this to paint a section of my desk before I start college this fall, and I was pleasantly surprised by how opaque it was. I used a mini foam roller to put it on and avoid streaks, but it seemed like a brush would have been fine too. I used two layers mainly because I was stupid and missed several spots my first run over, but the areas I went over properly only really needed one coat. I have chalk markers that are on the way, so I haven't tested out how well it works/holds up against being cleaned, but I'll update with that once I've gotten them. I was gonna wait in the first place, but they were delayed, and I don't know when they'll get here. ... show more

I think this is pretty much just black paint, it gives a chalkboard-like finish but I mean technically you can use chalk to write on almost any surface and it'll wipe right off. That aside, it was a good quantity of paint in the bottle for the price, and the directions were simple to follow. In this picture I used three thin layers of paint, allowing each to sit for a day, and ultimately was satisfied with the quality. I also used this paint on a really nice piece of furniture wood (an old desk or something) and it turned out even better. It peeled on the board in the picture, which is more cardboard material, but hasn't peeled at all on the wooden board. Chalk markers do NOT come off easily, even the ones that are wet-erase leave ghosting, on either board. I had to sand down that layer of paint to make it go away. Lastly, the instructions say to use a foam roller, but I wouldn't suggest that since the roller can make application uneven, I used a new kitchen sponge and patted the paint into all the pores/holes for full coverage. ... show more

I've applied this chalk paint to many surfaces in my home and this is what you need to know: 1. Porous materials will adhere super well. Cork, wood, particleboard, stone, and wall paint. If it's especially textured, consider using a sponge to apply as it is thick so it might take a while with a brush. 2. Metal and glass are okay i sanded but WHEW it will scratch on a plastic surface. If that doesn't happen, it will most definitely wrinkle or fall off when wet. 3. Chalk pens cling really well, perhaps a little too well. There could be some residue left after washing. And yes, if you scrub too hard, there's a small risk of scratching. If only using for decor (no chalk writing on it) Consider getting a matte sealant. I don't think it should affect chalk pens but can't be sure. 4. There is a whole lot of this stuff. It may even cover a wall. Lots of bang for the buck (where in the world does this phrase come from?!). Happy crafting, y'all! ... show more

Tried chalkboard spray paint. Looked good except the chalk wouldn't erase. We purchased paint and painted over the spray. Waited 3 days and it erased fine Price was right and kids love it

I love it! You will probably have to use two coats but other than that, it’s great! I’m a pretty messy person so I’ll usually get white a bit on my hands and thankfully it comes off the skin pretty easily.

This product is great! I used it on an easel I purchased for my little one but for some reason, no matter how cheap or expensive our chalk was there were some areas that just would not mark. I finally bought chalkboard paint, used it and it was so easy to use and it dried within minutes. The picture I posted shows both cheap .99 cent chalk (top hello) and the other I used Fulltouch chalk (bottom hello). I have also been able to successfully remove washable crayon with just water. I wasn’t able to that before. Just buy the paint. It’s worth it. You don’t need a lot of it and if you get the Fulltouch chalk that’s just gonna make you forget about white boards. ... show more
