  • Great mic for the price.
Color: Black
If you’re trying to upgrade your sound quality for an affordable price, I think this is the way to go. It’s priced well, and while the sound quality isn’t something you’d find in the highest end studios, for someone who needs something good, this is it. By far better than the built in mic to my laptop, and better than those in my headset as well. The volume knob, and ability to mute it on the hardware level is super handy. Rather than have to do a keyboard shortcut or click a button on my computer, I can just click the volume button and I’m muted if I need to be. Or I can change the sensitivity of the mic without going through any other settings. While I personally won’t have much use for the different pick up patterns the mic offers, that feature is there if I need it, and works well enough for a mic at this price point. ... show more

  • Very good mike for the price
Color: Silver
To start off, I am not a professional who needs a studio quality mike for recording, and thus did not want to pay the money for one. What I need was a good mike for a podcast I am working on as well as to record some training sessions. I use a MacBook and while it's built in mike or my Jabra Speak510 is ok for web meetings or conference calls. I was not looking for a studio quality mike to be able to record a music and were issues such as gain and latency become critical. My criteria was: 1. Good clear sound 2. Ability to select the the mike's pattern so as to minimize background noises 3. Sturdy build 4. Reasonable price i have found AmazonBasics products as a good value and high quality so I decided to give this a try. I was not disappointed. The mike met all of my criteria: 1. Good clear sound - I ran several tests and was very satisfied with voice recordings made about 12 inches away. Clear, crisp, warm sound. 2. Ability to select the the mike's pattern so as to minimize background noises - has several different settings 3. Sturdy build - nice all metal construction, heavy but stable 4. Reasonable price - I think it is good value for the money. I bought it from Amazon Warehouse as a used item but it looks like new; but even at the new price I think it is a good value The led window is nice for seeing the settings, and a volume adjust for headphones is a nice touch. I ook foorwrd to using it for podcasting. My only con is there is no mounting screw on teh base, only the mike itself. I get that is to allow it to be attached to a boom but I'd like a tripod option as well. ... show more

  • Excellent Microphone, surprisingly so… But extremely bulky and hard to work with, feature overkill.
Color: Silver
Hi, my name is John. Something you should know about me as I start this review to put my comments in context are that I am physically disabled. As such I have minimal or no functional use of my hands to type or otherwise operate my computer, which happens also be my lifeline to the world at large in a lot of cases. My computer which I operate my voice microphones is, I tell people, much like my arms and hands. Now that that background is out of the way I can tell you about my search for a microphone. For years, and actually decades, I have been operating my computer and doing my writing, I am a semiprofessional writer, by using headset microphones exclusively. In about October 2020 I was informed by my doctor that I should stop using headsets whenever possible, because using then so much was leading to persistent ear infection etc. until then I had no idea that you should only wear headphones or headsets for about 2 hours at a time, and then that you should not put anything on your ears for at least 90 minutes. I was wearing my headphones for the majority of the work day, as a lot of people who answer phones in offices by the way. Having said that, I need to say, that I had thought about trying to free myself from a corded headset microphone for a long time prior to October 2020. In October 2020 I began researching and searching for the best desktop USB microphone, as I discovered that Bluetooth headset mics were utterly useless. I can't even tell you how many hours I spent reading and listening to reviews of various desktop Bluetooth microphones. I narrowed my choices down to 4. The blue yeti of course, which I quickly discarded because of the size and weight, the Fifine K670B, the Fifine K6 78, and the Fifine K690. Along with the Amazon basics professional, which I finally bought. At the time of my purchase in early December 2020 my choices came down to the fact that I thought I wanted the microphone with the most features, condenser capsules etc. the size, and the positioning of the buttons. At the time that I chose this Amazon basics condenser, I wanted it mainly because of the positioning of the controls, the fact that it has a display screen, the heftiness. However, I am writing this review because, let me tell you, I was fooled by my own arrogance, meaning, the ease by which I am impressed with things, and the fact that I overestimated my needs. YOU DON'T NEED TO GET A MICROPHONE THAT DOES MORE THAN YOU NEED. IF YOU DO YOU MAY WELL BE WASTING MONEY LIKE I FEEL I DID. I assumed that it would be better to have a microphone with the most features and functions. So I went with a microphone with multiple pickup patterns. Only to discover that I very rarely, switch the pickup pattern on this microphone. It is almost always set to the cardioid pickup pattern. For most applications, except for perhaps professional recording of music, don't need much else. I could've purchased a much better and much more convenient microphone for about half price this Amazon basics condenser microphone. I talked about the buttons this microphone being on the front, which I thought would be very good, because it didn't make sense to have to reach around the microphone to touch the controls time. But the fact is that what you set up microphone properly you should very rarely have to touch it again. At least for my application, dictation and voice recognition controlling of the computer, you don't have to. I mentioned before that I liked this microphone because it had display screen. I still do, it is cool, but the truth is I rarely check it. So the feature is a waste of money. I have to say that the sound quality of this microphone excellent, especially once I got my voice recognition software adjusted to it. This process took a couple of weeks. However, any one of the other choices on my original list, probably would've given me the same some quality work better. The big drawback of this Amazon basics condenser microphone is that it is huge, it seems to take up a big chunk of real estate on my desk, and worse yet very happy and hard to move around. The Amazon basics condenser microphone is at least as big as the blue yeti. That's significant, because the biggest criticism of the blue yeti in all its reviews has to do with its size and weight, not to mention its price. One note on that, the Amazon basics condenser microphone is almost exactly the same price as the blue yeti is currently going for, so you're not getting any benefit there. Also, since it's not manufactured by a company that specializes in audio equipment, you're not getting the customer support that you would get from a company like Fifine. The bottom line is, that even though the sound quality of this microphone is excellent, and is shockingly comparable to that of the Fifine microphones or the blue yeti, I regret getting it, and eager to replace it before the return option runs out, because it's just too big and bulky and too hard to manipulate my desk. It is so heavy that I can't ever imagine putting it on a boom arm. In purchasing it I wasted about $60 and bought something that well it sounds good is hard to manipulate and work with on a daily basis ... show more

  • Surprised by Quality / Performance!
Color: Silver
This podcasting mic turned out to be a remarkable find. Obviously of very high quality and precision work. Easy to use and completely self-explanatory. And the sound! My voice is masterfully projected, exactly how I would like it to be on my podcasts. The adjustment knobs cover a wide range of quality reproduction. I have it paired with the Gator Frameworks Deluxe Desk-Mounted Broadcast Microphone Boom Stand for Podcasts & Recording. What an excellent combo! Highly recommended for a wide range of podcasting work made easy. ... show more

  • Mostly solid except for slightly quiet output, ragged volume control
Color: Silver
Sound quality seems good; very comparable to a Blue Yeti, just a few dB quieter. I like the OLED display and controls. Worked fine for me in Linux (Ubuntu 20.04) and Mac (Catalina) with no drivers. The volume controls are a little weird. Despite the label, it does not seem to change the headphone / monitor volume, but instead changes the system volume. It also does so rather bumpily -- when turning the knob, both my Mac and Linux computers change the volume over a second, but do so "raggedly" -- bumping the volume up and down several times and creating an awful noise doing so. It also worked fine when using my Rode PSA1 studio arm (boom) and Blue Radius III shock mount. It is only *slightly* higher diameter than the Yeti, but mounted just fine. 1 star deducted for volume control and quieter mic gain. ... show more
