Bought this super nice Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet for my grandson's 7th birthday. His old tablet was cracked and very much out of date. Perfect for him (7 years old) and since he's already very familiar with Fire tablets he got right into using it like a pro! We've never seen him use a kickstand on a phone or tablet, and are happy to see that he is using it on this nice tablet. I didn’t expect much at first, but the Fire HD 8 Kids Pro turned out to be a solid little tablet. It feels built for real-world kid chaos — the kind that involves sticky fingers and sudden drops — and the case actually does its job. Setting it up was pretty painless, and the parental controls are hands-down the best part. You can manage what apps your kid uses, set limits, and even approve downloads right from your phone, which saves a lot of back-and-forth arguments. Performance-wise, it’s not blazing fast, but it’s more than enough for streaming, reading, and the usual kid games. The screen is bright, and the battery lasts long enough that you’re not constantly hunting for a charger. My only gripe is that it can feel a bit slow to wake or switch between apps sometimes, but for the price and peace of mind, that’s easy to overlook. I love the Fire tablets. We use them for all of our kiddos (5). Each time one was ready for a good little distraction we go straight to the fire tablets. My oldest who is 10 has had her fire tablet since she was 4. They’re great for kids..so things like playing games and watching their little kid videos. This one was our most recent upgrade and it has been great so far. I love the parental controls because they offer a variety of things to control such as age range for apps, the content they can access, and time limits. I’d say these are strictly starter tablets as they do start to lag and need to be restarted from time to time to correct simple issues, however, restarting always seems to do the trick. I’d say they could be priced a little lower but they have served their purpose for us. The covers are nice and thick and protect them when they’re dropped. Not sure what material the screens are made of but you can feel the cracks when they are cracked. Ours didn’t crack from drops but from our kids stepping all over them 🙃

I bought this for my four year old after researching and trying to find the safest option for him. This tablet truly is designed for kids, with parents in mind! It’s well built and durable. The battery life is amazing! It’s user friendly, my child had zero issues adapting to it. The best (and my favorite) part are the parental controls. It’s not a generic one size fits all, you have the ability to modify permissions in certain categories to fit what YOU want your child accessing. If parental controls are a non negotiable for you this hits that mark.
