If you get chilly at times in winter, this very comfortable Amazon Essentials Men's Long-Sleeve Flannel Shirt may be just what you need to make the difference if worn over a t-shirt or polo shirt. I've worn mine like that frequently, both indoors and outdoors, for most of two winters and found it to be warm and comfortable, to fit quite well, to look good if you're into a casual look, and to hold up pretty well with repeated wear and washings. . I'd be wearing my shirt right now as I type this review (that I forgot to leave earlier), but I took it off yesterday while moving some furniture. Before I could get back to it, our always hungry female GSD decided to see if it tastes as good as it looks and now my poor shirt is mangled (based on the amount she ate, it must taste good, too!). Since I liked the old one so well, I've now ordered a new one in a slightly different color and resolved to avoid leaving it where Miss Muncher can reach it. 5*

I bought this shirt and a GoodThreads shirt. This review was written for the GoodThreads shirt but also this Amazon Essentials. A comparison. See bottom of what follows. I recommend this Amazon Essentials shirt if you're OK with plaid. GoodThreads Shirt: Bottom line is I was pleasantly surprise with the quality of this shirt. I was looking for a solid orangish-yellow for fall color. Very good material and craftsmanship. Material is soft and strong almost like a "flannel light weight canvas". I'm about 6'1" and 164 pounds, with little muscle tone and/or body fat. The only negative comment is the sleeve diameter is a little tight given the body diameter on the XL size I bought. it's OK, just, I wish the body diameter was a little tighter. If you're heavier around the middle, the fit would be better. Shirt body length should be an inch longer for me. Sleeve length right on. The color wasn't available in tall size. But, it is very hard to find brighter solid colors. If you want solid color, give this a try. Amazon Essentials Shirt (this shirt): I also bought the Amazon Essential plaid in a yellow/black. That shirt has a better sleeve to body diameter ratio for me and is the typical flannel material. Shirt body length should be an inch longer for me. Sleeve length right on. I rate the A.E. shirt 5 star for a flannel plaid-for the money. Both are very good value. The Goodthreads shirt was a few more dollars but the material is better. This A.E. shirt offered a better color selection than what I could find in local stores. The A.E. shirt is a good value for a light weight plaid flannel. I have washed both shirts and observed no shrinkage. You must take out of dryer and hang on hangers right away, otherwise wrinkles.

I am quite pleased with this flannel. It definitely exceeded my expectations. See below for pros and cons Cons: 1.) It took two washes for the shirt to lose it’s slight itchiness, which I see as a problem because some people might buy one, wash it once, find it slightly itchy and then never wear it again or purchase another (I almost made this mistake). 2.) The buttons are rather small, I strongly prefer larger buttons as they are easier to button/un-button quickly (especially with one hand). They also look a bit cheap. I don’t see upgraded buttons as a major price concession, so I think Amazon could reasonably add better quality/size buttons. 3.) I wish they had more colors/patterns available. I am not a fan of large print plaid, I really wish they had more Tartan plaids in neutral/earthy colors. I see this as a major downfall. PROS: 1.) Very soft after a few washes 2.) The fabric is a nice medium-light weight that drapes well and doesn’t wrinkle. Perfect for moderate weather (50s-70s) or wearing around the house 3.) The stitching is phenomenal, I own about 14 flannels from brands such as Carhartt, Legendary, Levi’s, Columbia, Stillwater Supply, etc, and the stitching on this shirt easily holds its own against those brands, if not exceeding them. I have yet to find a loose thread. 4.) Color held true after several washes, with no pilling of the fabric 5.) The hem is slight and the generous length lends it well to being tucked in (which I strongly prefer) 6.) The cuffs have two buttons for size adjustability (even some of my more expensive flannels do not have this feature) 7.) I am quite pleased with the fitment of this shirt. For a very affordable flannel, the cut/style of it is on par with shirts that cost twice as much I am subtracting a star because the lack of palatable color/pattern choices and the small buttons are a bit of a turn off for me. Definitely recommend and will likely purchase more. You can buy 2-3 of these for the price of just about any name brand.

It is hard to find good quality clothing at a decent price these days. This shirt is nice and thick and the colors have not faded after several washes. It fits a little on the larger side which I like. Nice and roomy. Go ahead and get yourself one or two.
