Only issue that I have with this is that there is minimal texture on the grip. I have a heavy and strong dog that tends to run/pull a lot and I have lost grip on a couple occasions as the leash slipped out of my hand. Otherwise they seem robust and retract and lock sufficiently.

My cat loves to run around outside but not so much going on walks. I wanted a retractable leash that was long so I could sit outside with him and he could run around in the grass. After just a few months this leash is failing to retract and is constantly getting stuck causing discomfort for me and my dog. I bought a shorter one from a different brand on amazon at the same time and use both at the same time as I have two dogs. This one has no visible damage but is constantly locking up on the retraction. at first I loved the length and ease of use but given how I now have to buy a new one less than 6 months later I can not recommend this product. ... show more

    • it does what it says it does, but not particularly well.

I like the long length of the leash and it feels sufficiently sturdy. I like that it's a flat leash throughout instead of the flat leader and a small line for the remaining portion. It's a bit large, but that's not as big of a deal as my two main issues. The arresting button will lock if pushed down all the way. This causes a problem when trying to wrangle your dog back quickly. Pressing the button will stop the leash, but I need to press the release button to continue to close the gap. I've had other retractable leashes where it would only lock with a second button or slider. The other issue is the retracting spring is weak. Related to the first issue, a stronger spring would provide a quicker response when I need to close the distance with my dog. In summary, it works, but could be better. It's not bad, but I wouldn't buy it again or recommend it to a friend. Too many options to choose for a few bucks more. ... show more

I have tried several of these on different brands, but I always run into the typical problems described for this type of retractable leash. However, this one it is very sturdy and the mechanism works flawlessly. It doesn't get tangled, retracts easily and it is light in your hand. My dog is 30 pounds and it handles the pulling very well.     • Don't waste your money

Purchased two, one for each dog. They made it about 2 months until things started going wrong. First one, my dog chased a rabbit and I hit the lock mechanism which broke -- a 45 pound dog not yet to full speed broke the lock mechanism. Now I have one leash that retracts but won't lock. Then, after she went after another rabbit, the spring mechanism broke. So that one was consigned to the trash can. The other one developed a slit in the hole for the leash allowing the leash to wrap around and drag. Now I have to constantly readjust the leash as it exists the body to get it smoothly extend and retract. So that one will be history as soon as it is replaced. Yes, the price is low, but the quality is garbage. Spend the additional $10 and get something better, you'll be happier and it will cost you less in the long run. ... show more
