My dog isn’t fully grown yet but I purchased this because it claims it can handle up to 175 lbs, which he should be close to. Despite the seemingly thin fabric, it is rather sturdy. I haven’t had any issues with it, he can tug on it and it works easily. The locking of the leash is efficient and useful. The free bags that don’t with it aren’t the best but they work. The attached light is useful for night time walks and his evening “making.”

This Leah is great if you have a big dog. Not so good for small dogs. I have a French mastiff & a pug. The tension is great for my mastiff but the train is to strong for my pug. It's still a great leash though. I recommend it if you have a large strong dog

Bought this retractable dog leash for my 11 month old Cane Corso to allow him more freedom on our walks. He really enjoys his freedom and I enjoy being able to allow him some space to sniff and explore. The leash is sturdy and the light is great. A little heavy, but to be expected since it is for a larger dog. Wish the swivel clip had a little more swivel. Overall, very happy with the purchase.

Although the product review says it is good for a 175lbs dog, I am not sure how they come to that conclusion. If your dog is running from you, and you need to push the button to get the dog to stop, it feels like it might just explode in your hand before it actually locks in and stop. The strap likely can hold up to 175lbs, but maybe not a 175lb dog pulling on it. I had the leash locked in at a shorter distance 6-8ft, and my dog went from one side of me to the other, and as he reached the end of the leash, my dog was halted immediately, but the leash split the casing and got the strap jammed up so that it became no longer useable. I was able to take screws out of the casing and put it back together, but in doing so I noticed why it happened, the strap is wound the wrong way around the disc inside. Instead of the strap coming over the top and straight out of the leash, it comes from underneath so there is tremendous pressure downward on the casing where it exits the case. This, in turn, will lead to long term wear if it doesn't get the case split as mine did.

The strap might technically be able to hold 175 pounds, but the leash as a whole will not stand up to a large breed dog if he gets excited. The leash is otherwise very nice. It's long, has a built in light that was plenty bright enough for late night walks and has a locking mechanism to lock the leash at a fixed length. However, i used mine for a couple months and one day I was walking my 150 pound great dane and he spotted something of interest and tugged on the leash a little. He didn't pull hard, he didn't try to drag me along with him or anything, he just gave a firm tug wanting to check something out. The leash strap slipped down the seam in between the two halves of the handheld part and something inside got messed up so that the leash neither retracts all the way, nor extends out as far as it's supposed to, even though I was able to pull the strap back up into its designated hole. Now I could understand if he had pulled really hard, gotten excited and started lunging at something and fighting against me, but he didn't. He gave one good firm tug as he trotted over to something until he hit the end of the leash and when he hit the end and pulled, I called him back and he came back to me, but the leash wouldn't go back in. So yeah, the strap might not break with a large dog on the end of it, but the mechanism can.

This lady is lightweight and compact. I got it specifically because it is rated for dogs up to 150 pounds. It has worked great even when my boy wanted to run and play while on it hitting the end hard. The flashlight is a bonus. It provides great light for walking the dogs in a dark field.

The bags that come with it tear very easily, but standard bag rolls will fit (the bag roll that come with it has a hollow core and there are prongs that fit into those holes, but bag roll with no core will work). The battery replacement starts out easy. Just unclip the clear cover on top. But removing the 3 coin batteries requires a very small screwdriver or such to get one battery started coming out. Putting them in was easier. I like the action of the reel lock and release buttons.

I got this for my mother. She takes the dog out at night so the light on it was a big seller for me. It didn't need batteries . This was so light even someone shaky or in a wheelchair could handle this. It just winds up with a touch of a button. So you can safely get your pooch back in before you unclick and tap the button to roll it back in. The travel water_food dish was very cool. You could get a bottle of water and just pour it in! It also came with a cute little bone that clios on with little bags for any mess left, so your neighbors won't get pissed.
