This sand is very moldable and fun! It is a crumbly, powdered texture compared to Kinetic sand so not really compatible with the sand itself. The tools and molds work though. This still is a very fun product! As for mess, it can get messy. As it's not as sticky I guess, it can be harder to clean up. This kit is great. Way cheaper than other brands and even includes tools. It was a bit crumbly and dry just out of the bag...did not deter my kid...and my husband...from playing with it. I ended up googling it and found out that if you add some water by getting your hands wet and then playing with the sand the texture would improve. I got this because it was on a daily deal. I normally get a box for my son that has aqua sand in it. This was nothing close to what we are used to. It was hard and crumbled into a million pieces instead of being squishy like we expected. The blue die got all over my kid, stained his high chair, clothes, and everything else it came in contact with. I guess that's why it was on sale. The only positive was how much came in the bag as it was a large bag (I think it was 2lbs) but that doesn't really matter if the product isnt satisfactory. Lesson learned.
