I hardly ever write reviews. For this, though... For this, I have to. First of all, major shout out to whoever decided to wrap the styrofoam packaging so it doesn't get all over the damn place. Oh, the packaging - this has got to be the most well-packaged furniture I've ever received. And the table itself? It only took about 20 minutes to put together, and I'm pretty sure you could do it without instructions if you've ever assembled IKEA-type furniture before. It. Was. EASY. Looks great, works great (so far; will update if that ever changes). 5 stars. No question about it. ... show more

Warning: Grab Bag Spoiler Ahead!! So, from what I can gather If you order black you get espresso If you order espresso you get oak Maybe ordering oak or white would get you black? Who knows! Only buy this if you're not particularly picky about what color you'll get because chances are it will NOT be the one you wanted! Our mystery table grab bag was oak (ordered espresso), and it does not match a dang thing in our house, but that's okay. We only got this while we wait for the one we really wanted to be available in stock, and then will move this to a different area. It's sturdy, and looks nice. I bought this natural wood table for its closed storage area, and ability to raise the top use it for a desk for a lap top, and just bring food, or coffee etc. closer when seated on the couch. The assembly was quick (about 20 minutes) and easy, with well drilled holes. The holes were straight, and it fit fairly well, but the sections do not smoothly line up to each other - about a 1/16 inch offset in several areas. After assembly, the table was sturdy and did not wobble. The natural color is good. It is not all natural wood planking as advertised. It appears to be a good veneer. The drawer bottom (section below the lid) is paper, and will not be able to take much weight. I planned to store books inside, and besides the problem with a paper liner, the area inside is not very big. so will have to use the bottom shelf instead. I have some woven water hyacynth baskets that fit underneath as well, and the fact that it has only two sections instead of the three in similar tables gives more flexibility for larger items to be stored on the bottom shelf. The table does have a weight limit of 45 lbs so do not lean or sit on it. The wood is not completely smooth, and the coating is rough, and slightly thin or white in some areas. The hinge mechanism has a beefy spring, and a stop that is to allow it to support extra weight. It can be raised less than the full height if light items such as a meal, a drink, or magazine were placed on it, but should be raised to where it locks in place for heavier items, or to keep it in a raised position.. There is a released knob when it is ready to be lowered. The feet on the legs consist of glued fabric, and fell off as I was assembling the table. It would be worth investing in hard plastic ones that normally are nailed to the bottom of the legs, to allow the table to slide on a floor or carpet. Some furniture have plastic covers for the holes left in the assembly. This did not, although most of the holes were out of sight. The hinge mechanism had large very rusted bolts and this is not acceptable for a new item, nor choice of material. I will get a replacement and see if the problem is consistent. The wood also had some discolored areas that looked like it had been exposed to moisture. I wiped of grey and green in a couple of spots. The soft cardboard packaging was ripped in some areas, and the red ribbon taped to the back of the assembly hardware was sticking out through a hole. It is curious what purpose the ribbon has, because it did not help get the hardware out of the packaging. I received the replacement and looked at the hardware. They are iron and either painted, plated or galvanized except for the hinge bolts, which have no coating and could rust again. ... show more

For an Amazon Basic item, i was pleasantly surprised. For assembly, each piece was clearly labeled, the assembly instructions were clear, and the hardware was also nicely packaged. The first 3 steps were easy to assemble for 1 person. However, I agree with other reviews that difficulty arrives when having to attach the table top portion to the leg assembly. At this point, assembly is best with 2 people. The most time consuming challenge was screwing in the 4 final bolts inside the table's storage compartment with the supplied Allen key. At this point, you need much patience. Once assembled, this is a nice piece of Amazon Basic furniture. When you lift the top, it locks in place. To lower the top, you need to pull out the locking pin inside the storage compartment. It was well worth the effort to assemble. However, I am subtracting 1 star because of my disappointment with the delivery. They dumped the item in my driveway and never bothered to at least ring the doorbell to notify me of the delivery. If I hadn't checked delivery status online, then I would never have known that it was sitting in my driveway!! I don't know what is going on with Amazon delivery lately! Then online delivery status claims "left inside the residence’s mailbox" which I clearly don't understand!?! ... show more

They sent me the wrong color (kind of a theme in this review section) but I liked it well enough to keep it. This thing feels sturdy and was mostly easy to assemble. The last step was a pain because of the location of the allen bolts. Hard to reach and the key was unable to turn more than a quarter turn. I took one star for the color and one for the final assembly step (those bolts nearly doubled the assembly time). Other than that, I love this table. ... show more
