It’s not clear from the description, but the bottom of this mount has a sticky silicone disk at the center. The disk is covered with a protective plastic film. If you leave the protective film in place, the mount tends to slide on the dash because the film is slippery. If you remove the protective film, you expose a sticky surface that is designed to adhere the mount to the dash. Not what I wanted. So, I peeled off the silicone disk. It took a little effort, but it came off cleanly. With the disk removed, the rubberized bottom of the mount makes good contact with my dash and the mount doesn't slide around. And now I have the friction mount I thought I was buying in the first place.

Price was really good, but slides around on dashboard. They need to make it more tacky, or better weight. Just won't stay in place! I love Amazon trying to make their own brands/ good quality, but this could be better. Who wants navigation falling off dash on simple turns, or stops

GoPro doesn’t make a standard windshield mount for its cameras, and their suction cup dash mount doesn’t adhere to textured dashes, which is 99.9% of modern dash material. So I needed an alternative and not something too high or big for my low recording car camera. This bean bag GPS mount is an excellent alternative. The GoPro adhesive base holder cured and attached within 24 hours to the GPS dash mount’s base. I’m not sure why there are negative comments about the mount reportedly sliding. This was not an issue. The device has three heavy bean bag “arms” with two cellophane covers (top & bottom) on the bases, just peel them off. I cleaned the top base lightly with alcohol and dried it to ensure the GoPro adhesive camera holder attached perfectly. The bottom-side of the GPS mount that goes on top of your dash is really sticky on its own once you remove the cellophane. I use a lint roller to remove any debris the bottom-side may gather. The cool thing?? I can literally pick up my GoPro camera attached to this GPS dash mount and move it any other car with no hassle. So if it works for my GoPro camera, it’ll definitely work for a GPS suction cup device, which is its original intended use. I have no complaints.

Love this! It keeps our GPS in place. I was always having issues with the GPS coming unstuck from the window and falling on the floor. I live in Florida and the heat in the car is the issue. This stay put on the dash does not slide, however with the heat I still had an issue of the gps coming off and falling to the floor. I had to put double sided tape onto the GPS to keep it from coming off but it was not due to this mount but from the heat.

I bought a nice suction phone holder and thought this Amazon car dashboard mount could be a great solution to avoid putting sticky suction pad directly on my car dashboard. However, after I received it, it turned out this is not a friction mount, and the anti-slip bottom doesn't work well. Pros: • You can attach any suction and adhesive mounts on it. • Affordable price Cons: • This product looks like a friction mount, but it's not. The bottom of this mount has a sticky silicone disk in the center. You need to remove the protective film to enhance the mount adhesion. • The anti-slip bottom doesn't work well. The mount slided around on my car dashboard while I was driving. (Note: I didn't remove the protection film on the sticky silicone disk because I don't want to have the sticky mark leaves in my car.) • You can attach any suction and adhesive mounts on it, but they can't be too heavy or too long because the weight of Amazon dashboard mount is not heavy enough to hold them. When I used my suction phone holder and put my phone (Samsung Note 8) on it, the dashboard mount tilted even if I used the sticky pad on the bottom. In the end, I bought a Garmin portable friction mount which is heavier than the Amazon one. It's more expensive than the Amazon one. However, it's a truly friction mount, and the anti-slip bottom works well. I can also place it on a non-flat surface.

I use this to mount my gopro on my dashboard. I could just suction cup my gopro to the windshield, but with this mount, it's really easy to throw it on the floor when I park my car, so it's not begging to be stolen. My dashboard is a little sloped, and over a long drive, the mount will work its way off the dashboard, so I don't recommend this for a steeply sloped dashboard. The bottom of the mount is just rubber -- no adhesive. And the top of the mount is really smooth for a suction cup mount. I have had no problems with the suction cup staying attached to this mount. The mount, itself, sits a little crooked on my dashboard, but to me, that's not a big deal. I'm very happy with this purchase, and it does exactly what I want it to do. (stable base, easy to move out of sight) But, if you already have a suction cup mount, I'm not really sure why using this would be better than just using your suction cup on the windshield.

I find this to be a great combination / alternative to using the magnet attachment that sticks into your car's air vent. When this item is placed on your dashboard, it serves as the perfect location for your phone to be out-of-the-way and in the perfect spot for navigation and hands-free use. The base is heavy and will not fall or roll over even when you take sharp, aggressive turns in your vehicle. Stick a good magnet on the back of your phone and use this base with a magnet-style attachment arm for the perfect combo. You get the same result without having to compromise hot or cold air being blocked from the vent in your car.
