  • A basic video connector with useful options
Size: 3-Foot Number of Items: 1
I received this recently and can confirm this is a basic DisplayPort cable - what more did you expect? With my ever-evolving computer usage, I finally concluded it was time to make the most of a computer with a USB-C to DisplayPort feature and I was surprised how well it turned out. The Amazon basics USB-C to DisplayPort cable is just that - a simple cable that connects computers with video out via USB-C to monitors with a DisplayPort connection. While the ubiquitous HDMI port is the leader in video connections, the DisplayPort is a more professional connector with higher bandwidth for higher resolutions and refresh rates for PC monitors that can support them. In my case, I wanted to connect a Chromebook to a 4K monitor and was impressed. Starting that my lowly Chromebook could output a 4K image at all, it only took a few minor changes in the display settings to make the machine more useful. While I will be beyond review for this cable, ChromeOS behaved remarkably well and further experiments show it has some docking features like the ability to close the laptop screen and use external mice and keyboards comparable to desktop PC. There is a quirk regarding sound though. The DisplayPort standard does carry sound and under ChromeOS, I think it transfers that feature to the primary display. When I made my 4K monitor - a monitor with no internal speakers - the sound was lost and seemingly out of control. Seems you can continue having sound so long as either your extended monitor has speakers or use it as an extended/secondary monitor. So, do you have a computer with video out via USB-C? While your operating system will determine how well it performs, the option to extend your desktop to additional and better monitors is a convenient way to extend the life and usefulness of a laptop or desktop that supports it. ... show more

  • Directly Connects Mac to DisplayPort Monitor
Size: 6-Foot Number of Items: 1
My Mac only has USB-C/Thunderbolt ports, so using an external monitor means using some sort of adapter. There are tons of HDMI adapters out there, but a DisplayPort adapter isn't quite as common. One of the reviews of this adapter complained that the DisplayPort connector was too big and essentially said that "there was no reason" for that. Ummm, that's where the electronics that convert Thunderbolt to DisplayPort are, so there IS a reason for it. Anyway, the cable works seamlessly with my Mac and my DP monitor, and having a bigger display is very helpful with things like image manipulation and photo editing. ... show more

  • Seems flimsy but has been plugged/unplugged about 200 times and it's fine
Size: 6-Foot Number of Items: 1
Haven't had an issue yet. The cable is fairly thin but doesn't seem like it's giving up anytime soon as I've docked/undocked my laptop with it ~200 times without it even acting like it's failing. Will update if there's an issue in the future. Worked with Lenovo USB-C compatible laptops and Macbook Pro 2016-2019 - Linux, Windows, and Macos alike ... show more

  • All dead on arrival.
Size: 6-Foot Number of Items: 1
We purchased 10 for our office. Upon arrival all 10 cables did not work on Windows or MacOS devices. Additionally, it was tested on HP, Dell, LG, and Samsung monitors in office. There is something clearly wrong with their quality control and would advise people to stay away from this cable.

I was a little nervous buying the Amazon brand cord but I’ve been impressed. Feels like great quality and the picture quality is excellent.
