I have a home-built desktop PC with a Gigabyte Z370 Aorus Gaming 7 motherboard and an Intel i7 8700K CPU. I removed the graphics card (an AMD Sapphire Nitro) because I really never game. I recently bought a 4k monitor. But connecting that monitor to the PC's HDMI port limited me to a refresh rate of just 30hz. But using this cable, connected to the PC's DisplayPort (DP) and then to the monitor's USB-C input as DisplayPort Alternate Mode, I am now able to get 4K at 60Hz. (I may reinstall the AMD graphics card to see if I can get an even faster refresh rate, as the Dell monitor I bought supports 4K up to 120Hz. But again, do I really need a refresh rate faster than 60Hz for my usual activities that don't include gaming? Probably not. The only downside is this setup only allows a video connection; there is no two-way data capabilities through the monitor's USB ports. So I can't use the monitor's USB ports as a hub. But that's not a huge issue for me in my situation. Otherwise, the cable appears to be of good quality and worked out of the box without drivers or any issues. ... show more

Just bought a new Lenovo laptop on Black Friday, which only has one HDMI slot and I have two monitors. Bought this USB-C to DisplayPort Cable on sale for under $10. Received in 2 days and took one minute to plug-up. No issues and now both monitors run seamlessly with my laptop. Much cheaper than buying a docking station. I have purchased multiple of these, and recommended them to others, and unfortunately all of them have decided to fail on me after 1 to 3 months. When I say fail, I mean I randomly see corrupted sections of my screen appear, which is tolerable but annoying at best. What really sucks is sometimes the picture will drop completely, and the only way to recover the signal is to unplug the USB-C side and plug it back in. If you get up to the top of it's capabilities, say 4k 240hz, you're going to get to experience the worst of the worst. I haven't even been able to get a picture out of one of the cables at that resolution, and the best cable still causes corruption to show up every now and then and still disconnects, just more rarely than the others. ... show more

I have the cable plugged into a docking station, and my only complaint is that when I plug the computer into the dock, the monitor doesn’t work. I always need to unplug the cable from the dock, and plug it back in to make it work. If you aren’t using a dock, it will probably work just fine for you. And to be honest, it works fine for me outside of that minor issue. Unplugging and replugging is a minor issue, but it does defeat the whole point of having a dock. Otherwise it works just fine. Needed a quick way for my daughter to use a desktop monitor as a secondary monitor for her laptop, without having to deal with a docking station. This cable worked like a CHAMP. Obviously connected the proper end to the monitor, then anytime she uses her desk, she pops in the USB-C end into the laptop to instantly extend her desktop. Worked perfectly out-of-the-box.
