Omeprazole is the 1 Active Ingredient for Frequent Heartburn (based on iRi sales volume among PPI products sold in the United States, for the 52 weeks ending 01/01/23). When used as directed for 14 days, Omeprazole prevents heartburn that is frequent in nature and provides long-lasting, 24-hour relief so you can enjoy every moment with family and friends. This heartburn medicine may take one to four days for full effect, although some people get complete relief of symptoms within 24 hours. Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs), like Omeprazole, work differently from antacid tablets and other acid reducer pills. These heartburn relief treatments only neutralize the stomach acid and provide shorter relief (less than 24 hours). Omeprazole stops acid production at the source, preventing the acid that causes heartburn symptoms for relief that lasts all day and night. This heartburn medicine is a 14-day course of treatment that should be taken once every 24 hours for 14 days to treat frequent heartburn flare-ups. For adults 18 years and older suffering from frequent heartburn that occurs two or more days a week.

When it comes to prescription medicine, your insurance company uses that opportunity to tell you how much they hate you. At least mine does. My doctor prescribes me Omeprazole. A 20mg dose, 30 day supply with five refills. Seems pretty cut and dry. But then the fun begins. I get the first bottle filled and get a nasty letter from my insurance asking me to let them refill it through mail order. But wait, they want the doctor to rewrite the prescription, fill out a detailed form as to why I need it, have some additional tests done. All from a doctor that comes to town twice a month. By the time I can get all this done, my first 30 day supply has run out, and I have no refills unless I pay out of pocket. Out of pocket is $16; not necessarily enough to put me in the poor house, but I pay a lot each month for health insurance and this is how they thank me. Anyway, instead of paying $16 for a 30 day supply, I can get nearly double that for less money with this brand through Amazon. No need to play games with my insurance. I already have an ulcer without their added frustration. This OTC brand is every bit as good as what I would get through my pharnacy ... show more

It is indeed what you'd expect. These are the solid pills, not capsules or liquid gels. They come in a big box, with 4 smaller boxes, that contain a sheet of X amount of pills. To those complaining about the waste of packing material, you're not wrong, but this is also not an amazon problem. Walmart, Stop and Shop, Costco, Big Y, BJs, any place where you can get generic big packs like these, they're all packaged like this. In terms of how the drugs work, they do the job as well as any other omeprazole pill I can buy at the store. If you're instructed by your doctor to take omeprazole, I would make sure you're taking the right dose, but otherwise I'm pretty comfortable saying you can take these without issue. And in regards to taste, you're not supposed to chew these, so they don't really have a flavor. All in all, it's the drug you're expecting, probably from the same manufacturer as the other brands, just with an Amazon logo slapped on the box. ... show more

I have struggled with acid reflux for a very long time. I finally caved and bought this treatment, and thanks to Prime I was able to get it the very day I ordered it! I started it the next morning and I have been taking it for a few days now. Whereas I used to wake up with horrible reflux in the middle of the night, I have been sleeping soundly without needing to sleep sitting straight up!
