This is great quality hardware cloth. Used it on our garden fence to keep ground squirrels and rabbits out. No issues found. All welds were solid and the material was well galvanized. No rust or areas not protected. Short of a squirrel driving a car, they are not getting through this hardware cloth!

Is this actually 19 gauge wire, no it is not. Do you need really 19 gauge wire, probably not. I think Amazon has created a new reality were false advertising is the norm, and the information gets propagated as fact. The internet is loaded with “you must use 19 gauge, 1/2 by 1/2 wire for chicken coops and runs. Well, this wire is actually 22 gauge. I have no doubt that 99.9% of what is advertised as 19 gauge wire on Amazon is actually 22 gauge or less. So, the 19 gauge recommendation is based on the new reality and not the facts. As for this wire, I went through over half the 100 foot roll. I came across only a few small defects. This wire is definitely hot dipped galvanized and welded well. I tried to break a few welds pulling with pliers and could not. I could not imagine building a coop with actual 19 gauge wire. It would be brutal to work with. As a side note, the “chicken” wire from the big box stores are not the same “able to cut with a scissor” stuff you get online. Don’t believe what you read about predators like coons being able to chew through it. If you don’t need the 1/2 by 1/2 stuff, I would have no concerns using that as well. I attached a photo of the stuff I got local for my brooder. Docking a star for false advertisement. This is a good seller. It’s a shame they need to play the deception game to complete with those that are not as responsive.

Was really impressed with this! It's durable and one roll went a long ways for my chicken coops. Alot better than chicken wire. Hardware cloth at my local stores are quite expensive. This is reasonably priced and well worth it. My coops look really great now, and safer. Highly recommend!
