This cage gives me so much more confidence than the one that comes with the DJI Action 5 Pro. It's solid metal and weighty. I've been using it for over almost a month now and can easily say it makes me feel much more confident in putting my camera in more precarious places. The cage features a hinged and latched opening to put the camera inside. It has standard 1/4"-20 threaded mounting points on the bottom, side, and top as well as a cold shoe mount (which is great for throwing on one of those small Rode phone mics). It also features a DJI magnetic mount on the bottom as well. Inside the cage and on one of the sides there are some rubber pads to prevent slipping or shifting. The latch has a very satisfying button mechanism that doesn't feel like it would ever come open by just being moved around and operated. There is also a cut out on one of the sides in order to access the camera power button and USB port. The few drawbacks are that it solidly covers up the battery compartment opening so you have to remove the camera from the cage in order to swap in a fresh battery or remove the SD card. And the fit is machined to such tight tolerances (not a bad thing) that it makes changing out a battery a bit of a time consuming process compared to not using a cage or some other cages that are available. Also I believe the cage covers one of the mics on the Action 5 Pro, but I didn't hear any significant quality drops in the audio. The other drawback is maybe more of a paranoid concern, but the 1/4"-20 screw holes go all the way through the cage, meaning if you happened to use extra long screw for some reason there is a possibility you would be screwing directly into the camera which can't be good. But this never came up in any of my time using it, so take that concern with a grain of salt. This cage gives me such piece of mind, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a bit of protection for their action camera at this price point.

This protective case is a must for all action camera users and sports enthusiasts. This case is made from high quality and strong aluminum. It quickly installs around your Osmo action and is ready to keep your quality action camera lasting for years to come. This cage is very lightweight making capturing footage a breeze and doesn't take away from the maneuverability by adding excess bulkiness. The cage is slim, strong and very protective. After purchasing this I'm not sure how I was using my Osmo without it. Using the cage also gives you such a sense of ease that you don't have to worry about about bumps or drops while filming. The cage is priced so well it makes no sense to not order one. If you travel it is even more important to have this cage for unforeseen circumstances that you can't always be proactive for. This page fits perfectly in my travel bag that I use for my Osmo action and all of its accessories. I very highly recommend this protective cage.

I thought I would try out this cage for my Osmo 5 Action Pro. Firstly, it fits the Osmo 5 snugly and is easy to remove. However, the only connection options you have are all screw in, similar to the camera 1/4 inch threaded bolts that most cameras use to attach to tripods. This does not allow you to use the amazing magnetic and mechanical quick-connect and quick-release clips that are on the Osmo 5. You will be restricted to using only the screw-in camera-type connections, which makes the cage mostly useless for me. On a positive note, it is made from aluminum or an aluminum alloy, making it both durable and lightweight. The hinge and locking system used to open and close the cage is smooth and strong. I am not familiar with the Osmo 3 or 4 Action cameras, and whether they lack the useful magnetic and physical dual-locking system that I love. However, if they do have that type of system, this cage renders them useless. The price seems quite fair if you do not want access to the upgraded attachment system, which is available on at least the Osmo 5. Overall, it is a well-constructed cage. I am just bummed that I will not be able to use my various quick-connect and quick-release adapters. I will not be using it in the future and will look for other options that allow for a magnetic quick connect and quick release mechanism.

I have this cage paired with my DJI Action 4. Very basic packaging for this cage, without any instructions. The cold shoe is is a pass-through, allowing mounting of accessories from either direction. You are able to utilize the quick release mounts on the bottom and right side of the camera without issue, with both sides also being threaded. The battery/micro-SD slot is inaccessible when the cage is on, though the USB-C side is fully accessible. The cage is also screen protector friendly. The knob to open the cage does protrude quite a bit compared to my smallrig cage. It's probably the biggest point of concern I have for this cage, as the knob can catch . Otherwise, the machining and finish are actually better than the pictures might suggest, though not as nice as my smallrig cage. Good for the money, and definitely better than the plastic cage that my camera came with.

I grabbed this LILITURF aluminum cage thinking it would be “a little extra protection,” and it turns out I basically bought my camera a gym membership. This thing is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum, aka the same stuff people trust to not fall out of the sky on aircraft, so yeah, it’s solid. But surprisingly light, too. Around 120g, which is basically the action-camera equivalent of a protein shake. The fit is spot-on for the DJI Action 3, 4, 5, and Action Pro. Everything lines up perfectly: buttons, ports, screen. No awkward fumbling or taking the camera out just to adjust a setting. The interior has rubber padding so your camera isn’t rattling around like a maraca, and the smooth rounded edges mean it won’t scratch anything, even if you scratch everything. Protection-wise, it’s basically a tiny aluminum apartment for your action cam. The company claims it can handle drops up to about 2 meters, and honestly, I believe them. The LCD is still exposed, but lifted just enough that you’re not instantly doomed if it tips over onto a table. Now the fun part: mounting options. Cold shoe on top? Check. 1/4-20 threaded hole? Yep. Side and bottom magnetic quick-releases? Oh yes. A place for a tiny monitor? Weirdly, also yes. I’ve mounted lights, mics, and accessories without feeling like I’m building a DIY contraption held together by hopes and zip ties. Sliding the camera in is easy, magnets grab it like it’s the chosen one, and since it opens from the top, you can leave accessories attached while swapping your camera out. Very handy when you’re definitely not running late and juggling five things at once. I can still access the USB-C port without removing the cage, which is a win. Battery and microSD? Those require a quick pop-out, but considering the protection this thing adds, I’ll survive. The only “hmm” moment is the knob that opens the cage. It sticks out farther than I'd like, so if you're someone who catches things on doorframes (hi, it’s me), just be aware. Overall, this thing feels way more premium than the price suggests. The machining is clean, the finish looks better in person, and the whole cage feels like it’ll outlive the camera inside it. Definitely a huge upgrade from the flimsy little stock plastic frame. If you want armored protection, tons of mounting points, solid rigidity, and an easy-in-easy-out design, this LILITURF cage is an easy recommendation. Your camera will feel safer than a phone in an overprotective parent’s hands.

Great fitting cage for my Action 5 Pro. Excellent construction with a few extras over the sturdy plastic cage that comes with the camera. A big plus is the two 1/4-20 which allows you to mount to most camera tripods and some action mounts. The DJI mounting “clip” (don’t know what else to call it) attaches to each of these metal points, not the camera which I like a lot. The top and side sections allow direct contact with the power/record buttons unlike the stock cage. Much easier to control. The stock cage latch covers the microphone, muffling the sound where now it’s open and my recoded sound is much clearer. Some people might not see these features as improvements but more of liability issues. My only concern is the latch to close the top. The stock plastic cage doesn’t open completely where this cage the top flips open, making it easier to install your camera BUT the latch has 1 spring loaded clip to hold the cage closed. Since the “clip” doesn’t connect directly to the camera, if the latch failed the top would open and you’d possibly loose your camera. I’d be a cool addition to protect your camera for general photography and video or mount it up to your MTB lid like me. I do find myself checking if my camera is still there on rides. No issues yet. Either way for the price you can’t beat it.
